I find that this website, abounds with intelligent reasonable individuals. I am a child of the sixties. I am 70, so I have reference for my ideas and statements. When John F Kennedy was elected president, it instilled in every Young American the idea that we could do anything we wanted to. We could go to the f** Moon. When JFK was assassinated I believe that it was the beginning of the end of America. We have been going downhill ever since then. The litmus is that we elected a f** moron like Donald Trump. He is the Caligula of our time. Which brings me to one of the problems in this country, nobody has any idea of History. They're only interested in the last 24 hours of their life. Things repeat themselves that yet go unseen. We are not the greatest country on Earth. And no one can admit that because they might be deemed unpatriotic, well shades of f** Adolf Hitler. We have morons in our legislature who speak to a non-existent entity. Oh how wonderful and yet nobody sees a problem with this. Except the few of us who are educated and have reasonable discourse amongst ourselves. So what are we to do? Well I don't figure to make it more than another 20 years. But there are going to be days and you're young people future where you're going to long for the good old days. And let me tell you there is one way that you can change the outcome. And that is by getting out and voting. If you're totally satisfied with the way this country is going, why didn't there's no help for you. There's going to be so many more of you young people dying four Wars of political outcome and big business money. Now we all know that religion has been the bane of society since it was created to explain things that early man didn't understand. I think that education is most important and explaining why things are. But it seems today's world has religious doctrination becoming compartmentalised. What are we to do then? Well we need to speak up. I have no problem with who I am. I'm a motherfuking atheist. I don't make excuses. And the intelligent one. Deal with it. I'm using speak to text so I'm having a problem with this basically because I've been smoking some herb but I felt it needed to speak a little bit here on this website. And if anybody else has any comments Bring It On
What I've observed is when any good grassroots candidate gets a bunch of excited non-voters ready to vote for the first time, they are shut down by any means necessary. I watched it with Ross Perot and I watched it with Bernie. The people who get their candidate yanked out from under them and are forced to vote for the same old 2 parties they never liked to begin with, those people are angry, disgusted, and usually never vote their entire lives. This helps the 2 parties that hold a monopoly on our politics remain in power, which is just the way they like it.
Right now with the electronic hacking of voting machines and the "election hacking" by Russian trolls, it is questionable whether anybody's vote is going last long enough to be counted, or if it will be changed electronically to whatever the hacker wants to elect.
You're asking jaded young people who literally have a nasty future designed by this system to enter and participate in that system. Maybe they will once they get it through their heads its their turn. But many of them are so passive and so hopeless and so cynical you just can't motivate them to participate in what they consider a corrupt con game.
You asked, “So what are we to do?” - Then answered, “...getting out and voting.” That is key.. But, it’s only temporary if serious legislation is not implemented to curb the mounting abuses - and - if the legislators implementing that change are not rewarded with reelection...
We’re at a point of serious overreach. Both sides have long argued extreme positions in order to appease ‘their base,’ made up of a small percentage of activists who simply (consistently) vote. Once elected, in order to maintain a semblance of national stability or social cohesiveness, most politicians move toward the center, as things get only gradually better or worse.
Now, we’ve a mentally defective political novice having latched on to the hot-button issues of his chosen base. This freak continues to solely promote the ideas and ideals of that extremist base ..molded by decades of far-wrong ‘think tanks’ funded by industrial puppeteers…
Our populous is not as bright as they think, and only slightly less aware of what influences them as their far-wrong cohorts. They just blew an opportunity to continue a slow political progression, upset that they couldn’t have ‘instant progression’ … and now they’ve got total regression..
Honestly, we’re sunk.. The power of this nation got what it wanted, majority influence in the supreme court, federal courts - and (most of all) further relief from their responsibility to maintain the welfare of the society that’s provided their wealth, their tax gift. They can lay low, continue to target, come up with devious plans to trick that small percentage of the US electorate that makes an effort to vote ...before or after work on a cold November day … or those scattered work days of hectic spring..
Evil’s power is entrenched, and though their ‘political brand’ is being trashed ..Americans have extremely short memories and are instantly distracted by shiny objects…
I think that the government and the power elites realized after the upheaval of the 60's that mass education of the population was problematic and policy changed to discourage education that would lead to free thinking. Religion jumped on the bandwagon because this is right up their alley as they've been condemning free thinkers as heretics for centuries. Now we have people who are only smart when they have a smart phone in their hand because they no longer know how to think for themselves or why that might even be necessary.
