Serious question but also ranting a bit, do many atheists or agnostic here beleive in astrology, horoscopes, psychics...?
I'm very fond of the of the Tesla quote about studying "non-physical phenomen" but I'm also a skeptic and demand good proof for anything. Heck, I've refused medical experts suggestions on surgery those surgeries are less successful than physical therapy.
I'm absolutely certain there's a ton we don't know yet and also sure some of what we've relegated to religion or spirituality for centuries has some validity. Nearly all cultures evolved to have some religion and there's a lot of commonality across many world religions. Clearly there was utility beyond merely threatening people with eternal damnation if they crapped near where they ate and slept.
We now know prayer, like meditation, can help people who pray/meditate while doing squat for those prayed for but we simply weren't asking the right questions and mocked prayer for a long time.
Personally, I'd love to figure out how to train my mind to be strong enough to wish myself to death bc then maybe I'd be more consistent working out, studying...
Heck I experienced faith healing 2x as a Christian. How the hell can your mind accelerate healing a strained muscle 100% in two days when a doc said 4-6 weeks, so fast an MD said it was a "miracle?"
Anyway, I'm glad people here don't buy in to woo-woo, lol now we'll find out if anyone mocks my "faith healing" story. It happened, NFC how but I went running the same day a doc said it was a miracle.
I’m a Sagittarius, so I don’t believe in that shit.
I think that any attempt to understand or explain things should be given a glance (ideally when you are young) but one really should hold out for something that resembles proof. Older me can say pshaw to what younger me entertained because my frame of reference has expanded greatly. I can see that any sign of the zodiac is going to have people that "fit" because we have much more in common with everyone else than we have that is different. It would be nice to blame my stubborn streak, my clutter, my larger than should be butt, my love of beauty, and quick wit, etc. on being a Taurus, but then I look at my smart-aleck, just like me, Leo daughter and I have to say 'naw, this shit is probably all nature and nurture'.
Not I, although it can be fun to pretend. I like going to fortune tellers at the Fair, BUT, they must be entertaining, wear a cool costume and only tell me wonderful or mysterious things! Oh, and they can't take themselves seriously - entertainment only.
My daughter recently persuaded the local library to purchase "Horoscopes: Reality or Trickery? (Sleuthing For Explanations)" by Kimberly Blaker. We're looking forward to reading it.
A lady in vegas did impossible yoga poses while telling hilarious fortunes-I'm going to shave my head and dye the rest of my body hair flourescent colors.
An elderly friend wearing Bernie or Bust shirt will be the GOP nominee in 2064, I've spent money on dumber things.

This Atheist is both sickened and amazed at how desperate humanity is to find a magical power beyond our own.. About to say, you couldn’t make this shit up ..they do - and have! It’s like, ‘this can’t be all there is!?’ Well, if you exam it close enough, what more could you want?!
I wouldn't mind a few superpowers, teleportation or invulnerability would be super nifty. Sadly, I'm just a middle-aged nobody who thinks too much but dammit I mostly like me too.
