Do you believe in aboslute free speech? (That would include free speech for Nazis as well as people you agree with)
You have the right to say it, not the right to impose it by force.
I've often said,"Just because you have the right to say it, doesn't mean I have to listen to it." Hee hee. Some days I'm just pure evil.
Pure evil? Now that's scary.
@buzz13 What else would you expect from someone who owns rainbow coloured caterpillar slippers?
Free opinion is a right never to be trod upon but free speech especially absolute shouldn't ever be considered. It's the old adage, 'do you have the right to yell FIRE in a crowded theater', when there isn't any fire?
that doesnt really fall under free speech imo. i think of unpopular speech as free speech
That question is so loaded it's a wonder it doesn't crash through the floor.
It’s a fair question I think. Do you believe in total free speech?
Not 100% absolute free speech. I draw the line at inciting to violence which I define as uttering specific threats and trying to carry out those threats. For instance, I may be offended when you trash my race, but you have the right to say those things (I hope). On the other hand, the man who declared that he was going to kidnap and rape my 4 year old daughter, was convicted of uttering threats and I fully supported that outcome.
Terrible incident, glad he prosecuted.
@BearMcClure I gave him the choice of dealing with me or with the legal system. He pled guilty at the prelim. Of course, I did have the threats recorded.
@BearMcClure, @buzz13 Me, too.
@pixiedust Recorded, smart move.
No vote. I don't get polled by strangers.
