Are you really convinced that immigrants are living their luxury dream lives in US? Do you really think immigrants are on social public support as both Republicans and Conservatives think?
Here is my story: I am a immigrant, I never received even a single penny in public funds, I actually had to wait 180 days to get a work permit. During that time, the US government, by then under Obama, told me I shouldn't work or get support, not even food stamps, I got sick and wanted medical attention, all medical facilities closed their door on me,when I went to OHSU,they wanted me to pay upfront $12,300 before they take me.
I had to learn how to live with my problem. Before I got the work permit, one church allowed me to stay in Yamhill for two weeks, but neighborhood didn't like a black man to stay next to their elementary school, there was also a kindergarten, inside the huge church, so they requested the church leaders to drive me out of the church.
I had nowhere to go, but during those two weeks I spent in the church, I could walk almost five miles to go and eat at one of the church leaders home, I had no money for buse, no passes,he and his wife agreed to help me eventually, they paid the lawyer who worked on my process. They were the only people, who at least listened to me. So may be, not all immigrants receive the public money that many people think we do.
I'm sorry to hear about the situation you're facing. Thanks for sharing the stories of your struggle. Keep your head up and stay determined. Best of luck to you.
Life is okay, I am working and happy. I just share what I think you should know, that know.
Are you here legally…? If this is so tuff, why are you here?
No, it's not tough. I share what I see from my point of view.I am here legally, otherwise the government wouldn't give me the right to work.
@0752532706 Well then, going back, those of my family having immigrated to America no doubt faced the same.. Some would say you’re lucky to be here ~
I’ve noticed a lot of newly arrived folks struggling. I think life’s increasingly tuff around the world, the more people - the more competition
It’s certainly a switch to have an Agnostic/ Atheist as a new arrival. “Religious oppression” had been one of the main criteria for decades to enter the US, thus, about every former ‘European immigrant’ I’d meet was deep into a christian church … often having been ‘sponsored’ by one. That always left me wondering, wouldn’t Atheist’s be considered ‘oppressed’ within most nations … and shouldn’t they have been given sanctuary? -- Keep us posted
