I find it difficult to believe in an order and church that set behind sealed doors to decide what was and was not to be the foundation, the book and the organization. To pick and choose pages. To make sure women are kept down. Yes that was a great fear among Christians the women would reclaim their matriarchy that existed since early man understood the role that women played had in the tribe. The divine feminine was their god. The one who could bring life into the world. And yet they threw it all down and did their best to prosecute any healer, midwife, ect that was not in their code of the women must suffer for the orginal sin. Who could believe in a deity that for centuries has allowed mankind to commit genocide, slavery, wars that drew everyone as targets, pollution. Open pit mining., deforestation of the life giving jungles and woodlands poisoning tge seas and oceans. To allow a handful to control a dying planet.

I lay things like deforestation on unbridled capitalism more than on Christianity. It is even hard quite often to assign an appropriate percentage of responsibility to religion for particular wars. Largely because religions both manipulate, and are manipulated. Sometimes religion is the source of an idea that leads to ill-advised actions; sometimes it simply amplifies something that's already present; sometimes it is used like a sock puppet by the real perpetrators, who are more governmental or business entities.

All that said, religion (or, more fundamentally, religious faith) has set back and/or impeded the progress of humanity enough that we would be better off without it. I do not seek the negation of religion so much as to convince people that there is a far better theory of knowledge (epistemology) than religious faith, and encourage the deconversion of as many as possible (not through proselytization, but by providing good info to people who are already doubting). In this way, eventually, religion will self-destruct organically. It is extremely vulnerable to education and critical thinking, which is why particularly the fundamentalist varieties of religious faith are so nakedly anti-intellectual.

So ... rather than decry the harms of religion I think we mostly need to make quality higher education both available and necessary for all. And we're on track, however unevenly, to do that.

Western civilization has woken up to religion. Now the church is going after central and south America. And the point i was trying to make there is no "God" in the sense most religious people believe. Which is why i was pointing out all the things that a true creator "God" would never ignor.
