Identity theft. You could have your credit score trashed, and left with a ton of debt from purchases you didn't make, but were done in your name. If you believe your card is lost, take action NOW.

You may get a new number, but it seems like trouble to me. You will have to apply for a new card, possibly with the old number.

"To Obtain a New Social Security Number and Card you will need to provide at least two documents to prove age, identity, and U.S. citizenship or current immigration status. To Obtain a Replacement Card, if lost or stolen, you must prove your identity and U.S. citizenship." - results of a Google search

OK, but I mean, can someone use a stolen SSN to commit crime or hurt me?

@0752532706 IDK, but possibly. It depends on how you are vulnerable to some extent. It might allow someone to get a drivers license with your name. Depends on who found it.

I also found you should report it stolen to the police.

IDK, but notify the Social Security Admin.

What's IDK?

@0752532706 Sorry, I Don't Know. In other words, I do know what IDK means, and now you do too.
