This site's gender profile.
I was just shocked to see that the gender profile of this site shows that 70% of members here are male. Females make up less than 30%. I had thought the balance was more even than that.
I know that this is similar to general studies of the non religious which show a higher male profile. But I am surprised the balance isn't better here.
Obviously, for dating purposes, and those here for that, greater gender balance would be better. But, that aside, it just should be more balanced, and I wonder what could be done to spread the word about the site to our secular sisters.
May I suggest for one that women on the site tell friends and consider how else they might spread the word.
I'm not very creative on this, I'll admit, so maybe you have some ideas.
i like the copious choice - unless, of course, more than 40% of men are gay.
I think those statistics are probably American centric. I suspect its very different here in UK, or Australia or EU. There are contributors from all over the globe. Having spent many years in online discussion, men are more predominate. I suspect its just that women are generally busier...with that in mind...got stuff to do
LOL!
Typically speaking , there are more female babies born than male . More male children than female children , die by five years old , because they get into more things due to their testesteron . More males die in autombile accidents than females due to the temptation to speed . More males than females are incarcerated . So your concept is that on a dating site , that is male weighted , women should try to attract more competition ?
There may also be cases of not outting themselves for fear of being harassed, as online communities are not known for being woman- friendly in general.
@David1955 LOL! I wish that were true!
with a money box, you can get as many teapots as you like. this is just the way life is. this is nothing to do with beliefs. go on any dating site and you will find this kind of average.
I knew it ... I'm just some damn random teapot in the marketplace.
@jujuofthesea of course
I didn't realize the balance was that far off, either. Don't know what to do about it though.
According to the American Religious Identification Survey, men currently make up 58% of Americans who claim βno religion,β 70% of Americans who self-identify as atheist, and 75% of those who self identify as agnostic.
The Pew Forumβs Religious Landscape national survey found that 86% of American women claim to be religious affiliated

Maybe it relates to 0s of years of religious and Male dominance. ... thank goodness there are 30% in the us. In northern Europe the women are much self spoken, independent and not trodden upon.
I like that, but thanks for the independent thinkers. One day we will be dominant in the usa. Probably not any chance in my lifetime though.
