He wasn't going to make it as a Sci/Fi author for sure.
I thought the book "Battlefield Earth" was pretty good.
@snytiger6 Are you an avid reader of Sci/Fi? I ask only because back then was the Golden Age of Sci/Fi and many great authors at the time.
@buzz13 I read virtually all genres of fiction except "romance", which I find really teaches me nothing of value and presents me with no new ideas to ponder on. But, I have read a great deal of science fiction, from Jules Verne to fairly recent stuff.
I don't disagree with her statement but.... what Sara apparently does not understand is that Scientology is not a religion, if anything it's a cult....a bad one by the way. On top of that, the name is misleading since it does not have anything to do with science. Once again, if anything then it is just pseudo-science, the cheapest you can find. You may have connected the dots by now, I am not a big fan of this line of conversation. And yes, it is batshit crazy and beyond.
The only real difference between cults and religions are 1, the size of membership and 2. if they survive well pst the lifetime of the founder.
I am sorry to inform you but all religions are cuts.
I actually wonder if L. Ron Hubbard did that to prove how easily people can be persuaded to do stupid shit just to get accepted. He did say he was going to create his own religion to make money so who knows.
@JustKip I did not know that it was on a bet. I did know he was told it would not work but he knew it would.
No doubt, he did. Unfortunately he got caught up in his own joke and took a lot of people with him down the sink. Sadly still happening today after he is long gone.
@CreativelyMe It has been widely reported that he did do it on a bet. However the person he made the bet with is not always the same when the story is told. So, true or not, it is widely believed that it happened.
@IamNobody It sure is sad. His son tries to let people know the truth but even that does not stop it.
@CreativelyMe Well, I did not know that particular piece of info. Thanks !!
@snytiger6 I would not doubt it went down that way.
@IamNobody Oh yeah he was in hiding from his fathers goons until his children were adults because he refused to be a part of the deception. [businessinsider.com]
The whole concept was developed as a money making scheme by Elron Hubbard while smoking a joint in a hot tub. Sounds as reasonable as the rest of the organizations making a buck off people from their delusional fear of the Holy Moley.
