There is no God, or Gods. There is no Heaven or Hell. None of that. But is there a SOUL? Do we each have our own Spirit?

Psssst. Here's a secret. Humans are animals. There is no special feature of humans. So if humans have souls, do chimps? do monkeys? do rats? do frogs? do fish? do paramecia? Your conjecture causes a problem with a need to draw a line.

Energy distributes, modify, and transforms...the alpha and omega..neither created or destroyed . I have witnessed sooo many things...colorful solar storms emit flares seasonally off the Alaskan coast in Feb reacts to tourist yelling toward it? A sheer coincidence. Energy.

Duncan MacDougall, a physician from Haverhill, Massachusetts hypothesized in 1909 that souls have physical weight of 21 grams, and attempted to measure the mass lost by a human when the soul departed the body. His studies have ben debunked and have never been duplicated. There is no soul, no spirit.

I don't know.

Define 'soul' and define 'spirit' then we can have a conversation.

As it is, my souls are made by Doctor Martin and my spirit of choice is rum.

What happens to you when you die? Not your body - YOU. Your personality.... Your inner person?

@swf44nc it ceases to be. It no longer exists as it is a function of the brain.

@swf44nc I have always believed we go back to whatever we were before we were conceived...that makes sense to me.

I believe in the idea that matter can never be destroyed nor created only re purposed. That being said I believe there is something in all of us that will persist through death. Heaven or hell being a final destination, NO. Do we a soul maybe. But I believe only in the sense of, energy or material we leave behind.

I think like that, too. No "place" we're going to end up, be we are energy and we do ..... something.
Reincarnation?

No it was all made up to control people can't an afterlife without a vehicle to get there

I think whether you take all those items literally or metaphorically, they all go together. Throw out the literal god and you throw out the literal soul. But if you recognize that, in the metaphorical sense, we are spirited beings, that is to say, we have minds, and feelings, and attitudes, then there should be no problem accepting that we have metaphorical gods too, or concepts and values that we hold to be of the highest importance.
For me, the meaningful choice is not between god and soul, but between literal and metaphorical.

In life I have learned each to his or her reach ...meet folks on their level. Religion attempts to describe the connection of the energy that is housed in our vessel ( loaned to us) the human spirit and it's soul (similar to its satellite ). Religious text has been augmented several times over the course of thousands of years to reflect the propaganda of the ruling elite or empires pseudo value system to suppress the ideas of freedom amongst the common man. Bibles, Torahs, Korans are inventions...propaganda and can't explain that .

Exactly right my love, literal and metaphysical. But it's business as usual to convince millions of poor people that it's literally so. Money Honey.
