Same question I"ve been asking myself for decades. Never known a man to do this...only women. And yes...the ones I've seen preform this peculiar behavior do it when they are looking their absolute best. Then they cry and lament the time and money they spent getting their hair at its most beautiful. Perhaps that's it: now they can start the process all over again. One of the great questions in the Universe.

I’ve totally regretted trimming my beard like that before lol. Never did it to my scalp hair when I had some.

I let my hair grow out during the winter months. Indiana winters suck and I hate the cold. During the warmer months, I'm shaven or close to it.

I think just the opposite, when my hair gets to long and out of control, about an inch and a half.....LOL I have one of my daughter's take it down to an 1/8th - 1/4 of an inch

I shaved one of my eyebrows off when I was a kid.
My daughter managed to get access to a sewing box when she was 5 or 6 ...she found a scissors and cut a large portion of her beautiful hair off.
I came home early from work to find the childminder in the back garden in her bikini sunbathing ... I was not pleased.

The moment my ex gf calls me "whooly mamouth" or my sister refer to me as einstein I march to "Hair Cuttery". Was there Sunday.
