DJT's grandfather was an unaccompanied minor (16) from Germany. He did NOT speak English when he arrived. He didn't even have something resembling a high school education, though he was literate-in German. He did NOT come here under "merit". That wasn't even a concept then. He came here seeking the better economic and other opportunities that America offered. No different than many immigrants today, except many of them are fleeing much more horrific conditions in their countries.
