I would agree with that...she always reminded me of those dark age "saints" who flagellated themselves, or whatever, to public acclaim & glory
Mother Teresa was a poor ignorant pawn of the Catholic church. She secretly baptized people before they died. A long time ago 60 minutes did an exposee on her on she took a donated workable building and turned to the level of condemned. It was one thing after another and now she's a 'saint'. What a joke.
I don’t think she ended up poor or ignorant did she ?
I don't count fame as rich and wise. Any one who does so much for a non-existence goal is ignorant.
@HeidiBC
she wasn't poor, she kept billions of dollars worth of money given to her charity, which of course dissolved into the vatican upon her death.
She wasn't ignorant, she knew she was being hailed as a caring soul when in reality she desired and encouraged the continued suffering that brought more people to the catholic church by denying them pain relief and food.
Who mentioned fame? What are you even talking about? @JackPedigo
@HeidiBC Maybe I should have said infamous.
Ok even infamy...that wasn’t even remotely what I was talking about.. @JackPedigo
I have read similar stuff about her, and that she wasn't all that nice a person. I also read that she felt silence from God, though she remained faithful. I think she was a huge fraud, she had family money and she liked the adulation.
“When the late Pope John Paul II decided to place the woman so strangely known as “Mother” Teresa on the fast track for beatification, and thus to qualify her for eventual sainthood, the Vatican felt obliged to solicit my testimony and I thus spent several hours in a closed hearing room with a priest, a deacon, and a monsignor, no doubt making their day as I told off, as from a rosary, the frightful faults and crimes of the departed fanatic. In the course of this, I discovered that the pope during his tenure had surreptitiously abolished the famous office of “Devil’s Advocate,” in order to fast?track still more of his many candidates for canonization. I can thus claim to be the only living person to have represented the Devil pro bono.” -Hitch I found the quote on Goodreads and it says it's from his autobiography "Hitch-22" but I would have sworn he covers this ground in "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything"
I will let bygones be bygones. She can't hurt us anymore... I think.
I have to admit at one time i was under the assumption that she done good for all people and the forum people in here set me straight. I read up on her and fell out of my chair. Hmmm.... i never knew how bad she was.
@AMGT. Yes.... I'm going to make sure i look at things before i say something again... learned my lesson...
Yup, she was a monster. I remember reading about this when I was going to Sunday school, I couldn't wait to tell my class about it on Sunday. The teacher was horrified.
@AMGT is this the truth. Please enlighten me.
For the most part, yes.
@AMGT thank you for enlightening me.
