Browsing members, reading comments, posts; I found a few with instant turn offs for me.
Religious/Believer/Spiritual
(Spiritual as defined here- belief in a supernatural entity)
‘Hookups’ listed
Member of conservative groups
Certainly there’s more to weigh within the profiles but these are instant Nope! for me.
How about you?
Smoker.
Member of any organized religion, with a possible exception for Buddhism.
Trump supporter, or other right wing connections.
While not an absolute 'Nope,' I prefer dating someone who does not drink alcohol or use weed, especially excessively.
I also find bad grammar to be a turn off (but bad Gramma can be a different story ).
I haven't seen these here but for regular dating sights:
Any dic pic
Shirtless pic
Pic with fish
Not a cat person
Hate bugs
Cadaver consumers
Trump support
Tobacco use
Spawn
Low credit score
Bigots
Serial killer
Trucks
Dirty finger nails
Unkempted beard
Prison pics
Atv pics
Anti cannabis
Anti Israel
Sheeeesh. No wonder I can't get a date.
So, now list the positive points for you.
@bigpawbullets The opposite.
@Countrywoman
I'm still trying to process "cadaver consumers".
It might be a bit early to attempt visualizing that.
@Countrywoman Good list, except for your support of Apartheid!
It's not anti isreal, its pro Palestine.
Anything spiritual.
Not liking animals, especially cats.
Conservative ideology.
Long distance
Children still at home or wanting more children
Major sports fan
Married or very recently divorced or widowed
Gun/weapon aficionado
Car/vehicle nut - seriously more than one car?
Misogyny, racism, or any intolerance of any minority group.
@Akfishlady Yes, I meant recently widowed. I met a man who put up an OKCupid profile the night BEFORE his wife's funeral. She had a long term chronic illness, and went into the hospital for a simple illness and never came home. He thought he was ready to hit the ground running, and talk about a crash and burn. He was not clear about when his wife passed and I started dating him. There were still funeral flowers in his house. He wasn't ready, neither were his kids.
@Akfishlady I never heard from him again, and really didn't expect to.
@weldingguy That's a bit different. If it helps you make a living that is reasonable. If you have more than one car just for the joy of ownership, then we have different priorities and might not be a good fit.
Specifically requesting a certain body type
Supporting Trump
Supporting keeping cannabis illegal
Eats bunnies...
Trump, conservative, religious nuts (I don't think I need to explain this one, unless your one of the 3)
Lack of profile picture (why all the mystery)
Profile picture of subject naked (if any were worth looking at maybe...generally, their just not that great)
An obviously unflattering profile picture where no attempt was made to look presentable (arrogance)
Wine snob (pffft)
Weed smoker (pfft.)
'romantic walks on the beach' type stuff. (ew)
Sports team mega fan (It's fucking corporate)
The super athlete (again....pfft)
Too much emphasis placed on sexual side of things. (quality not quantity every time)
@weldingguy Important to me but they are only personal preferences. Some people might find them offensive.
A guy contacted me, I looked at his profile and found there a Pro-Trump, anti-socialist rant. I politely wrote him back "Thanks for contacting me, I don't think we are going to be compatible, and good luck to you" and he wrote back
"Crap, Your(sic) a liberal Turd" ...
I thought to myself .... What kind of people are these?
Name-calling? How immature, uncivil and totally uncalled for!
Those are the type of people I would block from all interaction. Don't need their hatefulness toward others who don't worship the orange anus!!
@Commonsense I remain ever hopeful and optimistic!
A person that post a picture that is of when they are 47 years-old, when on their age it says they are 60. That seems to be foreshadowing about their honesty. My favorite of all is not their post, but when you plan to meet and they tell you that they are married and living with their wife. I have seen hook-up's only, (why are they on here bugging atheist women, they can use Tinder). For me not any statement abut not liking dogs screams "No," in my head. There are men that come on here trolling for women that have, Do you believe in God? with a response of 100%. I chased one off 2 days ago.
Photos 100% in bars, with grandkids, with groups of other women, and/or obviously 10+years old.
Digitally-retouched or studio photos. Honest photos are vital.
"God comes first, you second" (will god be involved in our sex?).
Support for Trump, or Conservatism in general.
Cutesy Instagram filters. Ugh.
A profile that consists of a solid slab of 200+ words with no punctuation.
"kids still at home" is probably the biggest nope for me.
And people wonder why they are still single.
At least I admit that I'll be a bachelor the rest of my life and have no real chance of any relationship.
I don't find overweight women attractive for the same reason I don't like the way liver tastes. It just is.
I am attracted to long, wavy, curly hair more than straight hair. I suppose that makes me a cretin too some as well.
The thing is, I don't care what you think of me, I don't have anything invested except a few words on website. If you don't like me, that's fine, block me. If you do like me that's fine as well.
Let's just all be honest and stop tip-toeing around political correctness because you might hurt one's feelings. Life happens and these things happen also. Utopia does not exist.
Your first sentence pretty much says it all......
A guy hit me up on Match whose profile stated he was looking for a "feminine, submissive woman" who shouldn't "show up without makeup" and that he didn't date outside his race.
ALL the nopes!!!!!
The one I liked best (hahaha) was "she should look as good in her little black dress as she does in her tight jeans". ?????? An awful lot of "2"s are out there looking for "10"s......seems like anyway.
@YES!! And how many guys describe themselves as "athletic and toned" when you can clearly see 3 chins and a gut the size of Oklahoma
Reading their comments. Rude, offensive, attacking people? Hell nope!!
Distance
MAGA
5 cats in the background of the profile pic
Religious/Believer/Spiritual
Open relationship/separated/married
It’s a dude (just because I’m not homophobic doesn’t mean I’m interested)
Gun pics
Terrible grammar
Hasn’t happened yet, but if I ever find a Flat Earther’s profile here... definitely on the nope list.
My profile says, “I’m here for community”... that makes me not good for dating:
We have exactly the same set of standards with the exception that I also require a female for dating. - - not that I ever expect to find such a person on this site. Geographically I live in an a massive abyss blackened by faith of the delusional theists. Yes, I live in a tRumplican state.
Anyone who rejects the love of JESUS CHRIST Our Savior and GOD Our Father!
I do very poorly here.
I concur with most of your reasoning. The biggest one for me, would be complacency. If someone, through their posts, shows an inability to alter their world views when confronted with new ideas, that's the no go for me. Cognitive dissonance is frankly disgusting IMO.
Reading what a person has posted is the best research to learn who they might actually be. Difficult to hide one's stupidity for long.
I would prefer more questions, sorta like OKCupid. But the free form conversations here are most useful.
Yep!! OKC may have some goofy questions; but the "real" ones sure do help weed out those who are not compatible!!
@Jacar hmmmm, I thought I was agreeing with you about why you liked the questions at OKC. Was I mistaken? What is YOUR reason for wanting questions? We all have preferences and boundaries; isn't that what questions are for? I am certainly not judging someone else's "completeness"......just whether they match my own "incompleteness". For example, I say "Nope" to guys on OKC who want golden showers, bondage or polyamory. I don't consider them bad or wrong or "incomplete"....just not my cup of tea. Isn't that how it works?
