I was little, but I remember being very upset about the dead astronauts.

Hell I remember Shepard going up in the 1st Mercury , it was sub orbital. The damn thing sat on the launch pad for 5 hours before they hit the ignition sequence....with him stapped in the entire time..
So yeah I remember Apollo 1..it was sad..I was shocked..it was NASA'S 1st major disaster..

& now the airlines just make us sit on the runway for 5 hours!

I used wonder about the amount courage it took to be a part of a space mission. Sounded sooo scary.
