If you have a favorite or commonly used lyric from a song, please post the song for our enjoyment too!
Pretty much the whole song "Imagine", by John Lennon.
" You can't always get what you want "
"Often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we have the key"
"oh yeah, life goes on, long after the thrill of living is gone ..."
“And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make”
Niiiice.
????@EllenDale
This song reminds me to be kind. It dates me but I sing it a lot and the ladies still seem to like it. Go ahead, ask me to sing it for you. ,????
Yes, please. And post it, publically or privately. Unfortunately, I'm asked not to sing
Seen this?
(double photo load for some reason)
@WilliamCharlesThe second copy covers the Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. quite. Weird!
@WilliamCharles hey that's great, I've never seen that
@EllenDale - Wonder why it's acting klugy. I see two of the same images. Tried to delete but couldn't.
"In the field of opportunity...it's plowing time again"
Nice analogy!
All that you touch
And all that you see
All that you taste
All you feel
And all that you love
And all that you hate
All you distrust
All you save
And all that you give
And all that you deal
And all that you buy,
Beg, borrow or steal
And all you create
And all you destroy
And all that you do
And all that you say
And all that you eat
And everyone you meet
And all that you slight
And everyone you fight
And all that is now
And all that is gone
And all that's to come
And everything under the sun is in tune
But the sun is eclipsed by the moon.
Pink Floyd
I can't read the lyrics without hearing the music! and for everybody!
Yes Pink Floyd is awesome. Do you realize that they are very, very, anti-Trump?
“Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better”
Hey, Gato! Great song!
Thanx Ellen. @EllenDale
"Hello. I love you. Won't you tell me you name?" xD
@WilliamCharles What, do you quote lyrics all day long? LOL
@EllenDale - Just comment when I think of something that fits the post, is all.
Forward he cried, from the rear
And the front rank died
And the general sat
And the lines on the map
Moved from side to side
@RoboGraham Love love love Pink Floyd!
Teach your children well, and Helpless. I didn't know any lullabies, and I would sing to my son Joe, Hey Joe by Jimmy Hendrix. It always seemed to put him to sleep, but it did make me wonder what hell was I thinking I have Bass voice, so that was probably the magic, but still.
I love the song Hey Joe but knowing the lyrics I will never sing it to my kid. He owns guns now.
I always tell my friends to make sure to play this song at my memorial - " You Can't Always Get What You Want "
@flowerchild62 Great one! I say get 'me both
Great choices!
"I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun, only the good die young!" - Only The Good Die Young by Billy Joel
I was there that night. It was hot as all hell. Forgive the pun lol
"When "happily ever after" fails and we've been poisoned by these fairy tales" - The End of the Innocence by Don Henley & Bruce Hornsby
Pretty much all of "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd
"Sittin' here resting my bones and this loneliness won't leave me alone" - Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding
"I'm only flesh and blood, but I could be anything that you demand. I can be king of everything or just a tiny grain of sand" - I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know by Donny Hathaway
That's all I can think of right now.
Great freaking choices! Thanks! More and for everybody!
2 from the song Get Together by The Youngbloods:
"We are but a moment's sunlight, fading in the grass."
"If you hear the song I sing, you will understand."
Bird on a Wire by Katey Sagal:
"I have tried, in my own way, to be free."
Lots of others that I can't think of at the moment.
Post them when you think of them. These two are great!
"I'm going straight to hell, ain't nothing slowing me down."
Not anymore, eh?
"somebody exploded an H bomb today, but it wasn't anybody I knew" Moody Blues dear diary
One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me
Intriguing lyrics!
@EllenDale the original musical was not treated or received well, but the song survived to become one of the immortals of the Disco Era. About 6 years ago PBS showed a new rendition of the musical "Chess", how it should had been.
We are eternal all this pain is an illusion- parabola tool
Interesting choice!
@EllenDale tool patabole just listen to it with lyrics on youtube and that is all i have to say
"Rust never sleeps."
Any particular song off it?
"Rust never sleeps" is a line in "Hey Hey, My My."
"It is better to burn out than fade away."
"There was a woman he knew
About a year or so ago.
She had something
that he needed
And he pleaded
with her not to go.
On the day that she left,
He died,
but it did not show."
Still hurts, and it's been many years.
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return."
Not easy to learn
I like to think of it as the maxim, "Love is the one thing that grows the more you give it away."
