If popular vote determined who was president then Gore would have been president instead of the last Bush and Hillary Clinton would now be president instead of Donald Trump.

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Gore won the popular vote, and would have won the electoral college, but for for efforts of two lawyers- John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh - lobbying the Supreme Court to stop counting the vote in Florida.

The associated press paid for an independent count of the Florida votes, and Al Gore actually won. Unfortunately they came out with the results on September 12, 2001. After the 9-11 attack, they did nto think it woudl be prudent to question who held the office of president, and so although it was published, it was buried behind stories of the attack.
Damn right! It's good to see that your vote will count 100% of the time!
