The World Health Organization is now promoting unproved traditional Chinese medicine
Until they undergo rigorous testing for purity, efficacy, dosage and safety, the WHO should remove traditional medicines from its list. These remedies should be given the same scrutiny as other treatments before being included in standard care practices.
Woah now. I expected better Mr. Matias. What are the two forms if scrutiny for medicine? Yes tried n tested scientific method but we also accept anecdotal evidence in the case of medical pluralism. There is a number of treatments that have passed muster under scientific methods and they ALL pass that anecdotal reporting methods. Acupuncture has loads of evidence, as does the use of ginseng, ginkoba amongst others. The thing is as creatures we quickly dispense with ineffective treatments but I would suggest treatments that have been around for 5000 years are probably somewhat effective. I recently wrote a paper on this very subject. Happy to share.
Aspirin would Never make it to over-the-counter status with their rules.
