When I was in grade school one of my teachers daughters was getting married to John Davison from That's incredible TV series, Just so happen I had alos seen him at the Wesminister mall shopping. My science teacher when I was a freshman in highschool was a 3rd string Raider. When I was in the service Khrystyne Haje from The TV show Head of The Class was on tour with the USO she and I bumped into each literally when I was taking over the watch on the quarter deck.
One of the girls in my sports team is a kid's cable TV show presenter and voice actor. D-list celebrity, I think.
And a couple of times a very long time ago.
1: During the lunch break of the taping of a sports TV show, one of the best half-backs in rugby league, his nickname is "the King", of the time came up to us with "What's up, guys?" It was awkward because we didn't interact with him. We were teenagers. He is still a big deal now. Everyone knows who King Wally is. Definitely an A-lister - but only in the world of rugby league.
2: I shared a cab from a party in the suburbs back to the city with a girl who turned out to be a presenter in one of Disney's saturday TV kids show. I didn't know who she was. She literally asked me: "Don't you know who I am?". Another D-lister, I think.
I met Celine Dion, my friend's BF was head of security for Air Canada which is the airline that flies her all over the place. anyway, we were brought in a side door at the arena, backstage and drank a bit of (a lot of) coctails. We were then herded into another room where we met her, had photos taken with her as well. She was very nice, so thin and looked gorgeous. We watched her concert from the 3rd row.
@Redcupcoffee i know right? she looks amazing! and I saw her in person, she looks better than on TV! crazy huh?
I had lunch with Twisted Sister in Spain... Dee Snyder is actually the quiet one in the group. They were doing a USO tour and their plane broke down. I tried to offer them a ride on mine but I couldn't quite work the details out, so they stayed in Spain and we moved on.
I've had a few. I passed Tony Goldwyn on the street in DC, talked to Dennis Quaid at a local bar (he called me "chere" ), have waited on several Phoenix Suns players, as well as Alice Cooper at my place of business, met several MLB players, again, at work. A few more folks ( Sylvester Stallone, Pauly Shore, Alec Baldwin).
I met and hung out with Bono from U2 in Perth, Australia in 1989. I was living there at the time. He came into the night club I used to go to. We danced, he bought me a drink and we conversed for about half an hour. He was really nice. It was a great experience, especially since I was a huge fan.
OMG!
Many and for several different reasons. Dad was a fairly successful songwriter in Hollywood and I worked with him for a few years. I was involved in amateur road racing for a while. I was a folksinger for a few years. University level activities and associations in physics and astronomy. Alongside my career as a naval architect, I engaged in the design and construction of custom yachts for a number of years. So, yes, lots of opportunities to be in the right place to deal with celebs of many kinds.
that's freak'n cool!
Spike Milligan? A few local (Oz) type ones, just a nod, have seen a couple in civvy street, no contact at all. My son played frisbee with Jack Black outside a concert once. The last Pirates movie, Aquaman and Scooby Doo all had filming up the road from me but nothing of interest.
I used to do event security, so I have met a few. Alice Cooper is incredibly nice, and a fine gentleman. After the guys in Weezer got a preshow massage, they said they had time left, so I could grab one too. Sadly, I was not able to, you know, since I was working. Huey Lewis was just a dick. There are more, but the ones that did not act all better than everyone were great. Even Billy Idol was cool
Years ago, I was delivering pizza to the Civic Center, opened the door, and almost crashed right into Bonnie Raitt.
Met Alan Alda at a coffee shop.
Met Flava Flav at a mall in NC.
Met Stedman(Oprah's BF)at a night club in NC.
Shook hands with Ted Kennedy.
I DID write a book. Just not about celebrities! LOL
Quite a few as I worked security at various venues around London for a few years in the late 80's early 90's ( Queen, Status Quo, Kiss, Diana Ross. Stevie Wonder Barry Manilow.... the list is almost endless. I usually worked backstage so would quite often briefly meet celebs but my favourite one was when I was on holiday in India. I was walking around the outside of a temple in Daramshala when the Dalai Lama just walked out of a door in the temple wall. I was actually tongue tied and flustered. He just smiled and went on his way. and I'm still talking about it years later
An encounter? Or a sighting? I've had both. I've spent a fair amount of time at Disneyland and have spotted Kobe Bryant there (apparently a regular there). I saw Corbin Bernsen in Vegas in a hotel lounge. Back at DL, my daughter spotted some "Internet celeb" I didn't recognize. LOL! Most notably, back in Anaheim while having dinner at Naples restaurant in the Downtown Disney complex, we found ourselves in a booth right next to Robert Carlyle, who plays Rumpelstiltskin on Once Upon A Time. He was just on vacay with his fam, like regular peeps. We waited until the last possible moment to approach them (More accurately, my ex-wife did). He was gracious and friendly in the extreme. Accommodating us with pics and conversation. A very nice man. I live and work in Sacramento, CA and a couple of years ago spotted Gov. Jerry Brown Jr. sitting outside a bar in the Midtown area. Meh. =]
Yes loads a personal friend is a WEC race team owner/driver. I am an MSA scruitineer so I've done the world rally in the UK and met all the drivers. I've been taken up the Goodwood hill in a Morgan aero 350 driven by Charles Morgan himself. I've met Billy Connoly, Jake Humphrey's, Stirling moss......and that's just for starters
Oh and I've met Muggs from Cypress hill and smoked a joint with the Cat from Red Dwarf (back in my youth)
I just met DJ Khalid in Vegas a few days ago.
Yes. I've been an extra in two major movies; "Secretariat," and "Seabiscuit, " so got to hang with the stars, although I didn't talk to them. I was in scenes near them though, as part of the crowd background, and John Malchovich flirted with my daughter, who was also an extra in Secretariat.
Growing up in Haiti, I was sort of a star myself. I sang on the radio with my siblings live on air for music request programs, played instruments, sang in three different languages, made island tours, cut two records-one when I was 15 yrs old, in 1967, and one in 1970. One the singles from the second record, recorded in Spanish, was a top hit for three months on the top pop Port-au-Prince radio station.
Also, since I moved to Thailand in 2010 to teach, almost two years ago I acted in a Thai pop hit music video, so Thai people recognized me in the streets and yelled my lines to me.
The photo is from the record cover in 1968. I'm the one holding my Hispaniola Amazon parrot, from Haiti, which I had hand raised from a chick.
When I worked in a restaurant right outside the French Quarter, I've bumped into a few. I got a camera in my face for the Insomnia TV show, though I'm pretty sure they didn't use me.
Harry Anderson, the judge from night court, use to drop by the restaurant all the time. He was pretty cool, though I know a few women that were annoyed with him. Once a bartender a few doors down came by and told me, "if Harry does that fucking trick with the condom one more time I'm going to scream. " Never seen it myself, but apparently he would snort a condom and then have part of it come out of his mouth. Then sort of work it back and forth like floss.
I met Noam Chomsky. He was pretty awesome. I was a little start struck., And more than a little upset with myself about it.
A couple, but the funniest was when I was in Nashville for a seminar in the late '90s. When I left the airport terminal there were limos everywhere. I didn't pay much attention to their passengers.
A lady at the hotel, told me that the country music awards were that night. Apparently, I bumped Michael Bolton when I got off the elevator.
I don't know anything about country music, so I have no clue how many celebrities I saw at the airport.
