It is possible that a new born baby can be positive for STDs if Mum carries and infection.
A few years ago several Jewish babies boys died of herpes. When investigated it was conclusively proven that the infections had been contracted from a Rabbi who performed 'oral' Bris. Once the cut has been made the flesh is removed by the Rabbi's mouth. Despite convictions, he was a repeat offender.
