An autocrat can do wonders for a country - think Napoleon Bonaparte, during his first tenure. However, his return as Napoleon first, and then the reigns of his son, Napoleon second and that of Napoleon third were not beneficial. He had outlived his usefulness. (Much like Margaret Thatcher in her third term in office in England.)
