I did not know this story. More of corporate greed affecting the powerless.
Terrible!but perhaps not as egregious as the syphilis experiments on black prisoners in the 20's completely without their knowledge or any compensation, ever.
The high-handed-ness of both some researchers and most corporations is frightening!
Absolutely ghoulish ... despicable horrors were perpetrated on young women for no other motive than greed.
A further guilty insult by the radium corporations was to lie that the radium girls caused the health problems themselves. There was complicity from the laws that gave the girls only a two-year statute of limitations to win their cases in court. The number of insults against and negligent homicide heaped on so many radium women should be a permanent embarrassment to US corporations which won't allow organizations like unions to defend them against such employer atrocities. These kind of historical occurrences should be in the history books and taught in schools to remind each generation about how despicable corporations (which are now people) have been able to act without being promptly indicted and punished for those actions. It was just one of many examples of inhumanity by corporations, which continue to happen today.
