I know it's dangerous, but for me it would be exciting to experience one of those just once. Of course I would prefer experiencing it with electricity and indoor plumbing.

Starvation/dehydration/freezing to death are not fun, and a real possibility....go off the road, get found in the springtime.
I have friends headed to Yellowstone who live in San Francisco and are not winter savey. I gave them some tips and suggested they go another time.
