I got proselytized at work by 2 of my managers. I was trying to remain respectful, but their god delusions and reasons as to how they know god is real, irked me. My GM said because she has seen him in her dreams and her prayers are always answered. Um, since when are anyone's prayers answered?

I had some Muslim coworkers who would invite me to join them for Friday prayers. I didn't have the courage to tell them outright that I don't believe anymore as I didn't want to bother getting into a silly discussion with them (and a bit of paranoia of putting myself in unnecessary danger despite being in America). One day I just flat out said "I just don't pray". Which caused them to ask me to explain why, thus making an attempt at sucking me into the very pointless discussion with a close-minded person I didn't want to bother with. Like, mind your fucking business. A brown Pakistani guy doesn't pray, may not even believe in "Allah". Get over it.

Do you think they target you due to you having similar racial/ethnic background? I've found believers who have that in common with me come at me with expectations of belief that if aren't met, greatly disappoint. Perhaps I was the same once upon a time.

I got proselytized this week in a major city hospital and told by a doctor that if I read the holy Qoran, it would treat my symptoms! Seriously! WTF!!

Hearing of such a buffoon, especially a medical professional, makes me livid. They have people's lives in their hands. Once you are feeling better, and you are over the shock of this incident, I would encourage the doctor to be reported.

I see elephants in tutus vacuuming the house with their nose in my dreams. I would never claim that those are real.

Lol.

That's what they all say. It's better just not to believe in any religion, and to instead just solve whatever problems are causing you to feel the need to find religion. Religion does not enhance the quality of your life.

Yep.

You've seen... umm.... God... in your dreams? Ok, so, since everyone in the bible who sees 'God' dies... and umm... what did he look like?... you know because... there's umm.... consensus on that... i imagine... somewhere...
...and i'm sure he answers your prayers... since i'm sure you just keep praying until the issue is solved and blame it on the unknown...

Why isn't it legal to kill people like this? Why god? Why?

Idk what he looks like, nor do I care. Lol.

Explain you see the gingerbread man in your dreams, but he only answers a quarter your prayers.

Ask why she hasn't prayed to win 30 million dollars, so she can buy food for the homeless? If her prayers are always answered, it seems selfish not to feed the hungry. When the money runs out, she can pray for another 30 million.
(Some once tried praying to Joe Pechy, instead of Jesus, and found his prayers were answered at about the same rate.)

I believe that was Mr. Carlin, and i'm sure it went something like 'So Joe Pesci came around with a baseball bat and straightened everything out'. Something about his neighbors loud dog. Hehehehe

Okay. I'll ask her later.

I don’t really KNOW. Of course. But My question to You would be “Do YOU know?” And how and what makes You so SURE?

I have always made it a point, over my work career, to say to coworkers and bosses that I do not discuss religion at work. If anyone tried, I simply walked away.

Sometimes I can't keep quiet every time I hear, "God is real, I seen him in my dreams." My boss likes to bug me about it.

No prayers answered. Just a roll of the dice and got lucky. Hmmm... saw god in her dreams. No one but my wife and this forum know who i am. Theres consequences for coming out with this. Its not accepted in society. You may be able to raise your hand at a lecture and some applaud you for who you are. Please be careful.

Okay.

These narrow minded Religious people should believe in coincidence instead of thinking their prayers have been answered. Believing in miracles is the same thing

Yep.

My GM was all to the new assistant manager, "Sarah's an atheist, she doesn't believe in god." In a tone like I'm the delusional one.

1

I would probably look at her with a scared look on my face and say "You mean (insert nightmare here) is real? That's what I dreamed last night.

Lol.

I have to wonder what kind of silly little prayers she thinks her god has answered--you know, while simultaneously allowing children to be abused and murdered among a myriad of other atrocities?

Idk. They pray with each other at work.

1

The bigger question here is, since when is it legal for supervisors to proselytize to other employees?

As for prayers? Never.

It's not okay to preach at work.

I am absolutely not saying you should do anything in particular, but I ran across this the other day and found it interesting.

Since they bug me about god, I bug them with jesus jokes. It could go both ways.
