I often come off as a bit off-kilter when I first meet people. In fact, even the people who are closest to me would say I'm a bit unusual. It takes me a while to warm up to people, to just be myself. I actively try to create space for people to be themselves around me, I think that's part of what has allowed me the honor to be considered a best friend and close confidant to several people from different stages of my life.

For me an important catalyst for bonding is sharing our pains and fears, in being vulnerable. Being allowed under the guarded layers and truly getting to know someone, and being known. Being on this path of ever-truer mutual understanding is where I thrive, and where I want my relationships to be.
