Humanist organizations have also participated in Women's March, an organization where one of the primary co-chairs, Linda Sarsour, is a Muslim activist who is dedicated to building Islam in America, spreading anti-semitism and promoting pro-Palestine efforts. A couple of Women's March co-chairs have praised Louis Farrakhan, leader of Nation of Islam, and one of the most notorious anti-Semites in the US. Compassion and empathy?

Let me make sure I'm understanding you...BLM causes some traffic disrurbances, in order to draw attention to the issue of cops indiscriminately gunning down black people (2 more in the last 10 days). Who again is the "domestic terrorist" in this scenario?

Participating in a march is not the same as endorsing every other speaker or participant. Do you really want to have this particular debate? There is pics and video of Charlottesville and other recent GOP marches, don't forget.

@RationalHuman I would not call shutting down major freeways "traffic disturbances." It is an attack on people - people on freeways can be in emergencies trying to get to the hospital or to help others, and locking them on the freeway is an attack. A pregnant woman was caught in traffic because of people shutting down the road.

Regarding Women's March, unless the organization that participated publishes an official statement noting it does not support aspects of the event, then I consider it endorsement. The shady background of Women's March is not a secret, it is a well discussed topic. This is particularly an issue I have with American Atheists whom was an official partner with Women's March.

@repubatheists I am 77 and I was a Republican until Reagan. I am concerned with lost of issues. However all the problems we have today had started under the Republican administration, including the attempted expansion of Islam, taxation and the problems of education. That's why I've wondered how one can be an atheist and a Republican at the same time.

@repubatheists ok. I’m an existentialist. I don’t need church. If I need to have a sense of community, I talk to my friends, some people of whom are Christian and some of whom are non Christian. Few, however, are Republican. Some are and I respect their viewpoints, but on the whole I find Republican perspectives to be at best unfeeling and self serving.

I actually am surprised how people are coming out of the wood work. It takes time to find them, but they're out there.

They are anti science
They want to indoctrinate kids even in public schools
They arent humanists
They don't want to protect the planet
They literally want the world to end as we know it and keep supporting is real in hopes that biblical prophecy will come true and Jesus will return.

They hinder civil rights for women, lgbtq, non white people, and non christians.

If you'll notice, there's nothing in there about religious beliefs, trying to end the world so somebody named Jesus will return, or hindering the rights of women, gays or non-white people.. @hankster Obviously differences on other topics such as gun control, global warming/climate change and immigration come up, but you will find both Dems and Repubs will have varying opinions on those from time to time.

I appreciate you not wanting to be confrontational, @hankster so I'll be happy to discuss this, if you'd like. So you know, I'm not a staunch Republican per se, but I usually do find myself reluctantly voting for one due to lack of a better candidate. I'll just go in order of your string of thoughts above.
1- ar15.. I'm not sure why you focused on the ar, you probably have the same feeling toward anything considered to be labeled (incorrectly by the way) an assault rifle. If you consider them to be excessive, I'll also assume you would like to see them outlawed. First i'll need to know why you consider them excessive, no need to waste time here rambling on about actual deaths by ar stats if that's not your point.
2- Monsanto and Exxon - As a farmer, I'm not a big fan of Monsanto. I don't grow anything that requires any of their products at the moment, but i know folks that do. They make some products that are quite good, but I'm not a fan of their attempts to monopolize the seed industry. What do you have against them exactly? And Exxon, do you not like fossil fuels all together, or just the fact that they're a big company.. What human rights are they denying people,, again, specifics would be helpful.
3- You make a verbal connection between Republican desire for individual rights, yet pass laws that allow banks and big business to ''ignore their responsibilities to the society''.. I fail to see the connection, please explain.
4- ''government close to the citizen'' is what they shoot for, but sadly fail more often than not. I'm with you there. But that's not solely a problem with the repubs. at all..You know as well as any that the dems are as guilty as anyone. I blame this phenom on the fact that our population has grown faster than our ability to keep our gov. officials in check. It's why we're always pushing for term limits and draining that proverbial swamp.. Politicians are too easily bought off, corruption is rampant, hence our desire for small gov. The smaller it is, the easier it is to keep them in check.
5- repubs prioritizing rich person's rights.... not so.. They do push for self sufficiency, meaning less govt handouts. that's true.. You need to understand, there's always going to be people with more than others.. If you want to live in a country where everyone has the same as everyone else, and gets it from the gov, you should move to a communist country that operates that way for a while. See how you like it. I personally don't mind living in a country that lets you work hard toward a better life, make more money to buy nicer things, without worrying about the gov. over taxing me to pay for those that don't want to work as hard as i do. It promotes innovation, encourages those with extra money to invest in new small businesses and create jobs.. The successful ones get bigger, make more money, they expand, hire more people.. This is a good thing. Yes, we have to have safety nets for the elderly that don't have family to take care of them, and for the handicapped with nobody to take of them. My younger brother is handicapped, and my family all pitch in to take care of him. He's not on welfare or in gov. housing.. We could apply for it, but we don't. That's the way it should be.
I'm curious if you knew, the three richest men in the US, Gates, Buffet, and Bezos, all together worth more than the bottom 50% of the rest of the country... All three are registered Dems. I never hear liberals screaming about them being greedy, or too rich Large corporations are donating money to society all the time. Hospitals, school buildings, sponsoring sports stadiums at their local universities. Do you give them any credit for that, or do you just want to believe they are evil incarnate? PNC Bank decided to put roots here in Raleigh, and then they built the PNC Arena for our NCSU basketball team. that building actually created a shit load of jobs and helps the school out tremendously. Doesn't bother me a bit.

@hankster I've lived in Sweden for three years, a socialist-leaning country (note, it is not a "socialist" country.) US would not last by implementing Sweden's system. Sweden is having a difficult time already with handling a population of 10 million people and recent mass migration (over 200,000 refugees since 2014). US has a population of 325 million(!). US is socialist enough already, and it's having consequences.

@repubatheists That may be but a large number of them are Libertarian. When the group "The Brights" first got started they had meetings all over the country. I attended a lot and met a lot of conservative atheists and wondered about them. I found out about Libertarians and their goddess Ayn Rand and their Satan Rachael Carson.

@JackPedigo I vaguely identified as libertarian for ten years before registering Republican. There tends to be similarities. But currently I find the GOP platform to be more effective.
