BLM protesters in Bristol used ropes to pull down the bronze statue of Edward Colston, a member of the Royal African Company, which transported about 80,000 men, women and children from Africa to the Americas, meaning he was in fact a prominent 17th Century slave trader.
The statue of this monstrous man has been a source of controversy in the city for many years.
Colston upon his death in 1721, bequeathed his wealth to charities in Bristol, thus writing himself in to the city's history as a philanthropist.
The statue was later dragged through the streets of Bristol and thrown into the harbour.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed there would be an investigation into the "act of criminal damage"
Good!
Next that obnoxious statue of Duke of Sutherland George Leveson-Gower, at Golspie in Sutherland to go commemorating the Highland Clearances.
Redcoat bastards!
Well done. It is about about time that statue was done, gone, and real life could resume.
