Anyone work with, or like playing with strong lasers? When unable to sleep at 3am, what else is there to do but burn stuff with lasers?! 
A match burns at 30% power for 0.25 second burst with this tool. What more could a guy want in life?!
And, my laser safety glasses add 20 years! ** BTW - don't ever aim lasers at your face, even with filter glasses. Besides the eyes, even with the beam spread out at and at 5% for just a second, I felt warmth where every dot was. So . . . its dumb. The mouth? It was 0.5% --- and extra stupid. But it looks cool in high def!
We've all played with cats and lasers. But anybody ever done anything particularly dumb with a laser? Or watched somebody else do it?

That's a good question! Contemplating as I type here -- there are so many variables, I guess anything in the ionizing spectrum, like UV lasers and above, would damage cells - power level likely just changing how long it takes to do it. Non-ionizing radiation, in the visible spectrum - at high enough power would cause thermal damage, but low power? Hmmmm. Well it would have to do with specific wavelength I guess, don't plants thrive more with light in the lower part of the range, visible reds and yellows and stuff? Even some of those non-ionizing photons can cause weird chemical stuff happen that I don't understand. I'm not sure, now I want to find out!
@Observer-Effect As I understand it, all plants have a unique combination of wavelengths under which they prosper the best. I vaguely recall seeing a report on an indoor grow operation using LEDs of different wavelengths, tuned to what they were growing, both the wavelengths and intensity.
The effect on plants from the coherent nature of laser light is what I'm curious about. Also, any delay in effects.
I watched a surgical tech accidentally lean against an operational laser and burn through her gown and clothes. She ended up with a nice new belly button piercing, sans the ring, of course. We use lots of lasers in the OR.

Woah! What kind of surgeries at that practice?
@Observer-Effect we use lasers for lots of things. Kidney stones, liver lesions, anal lesions, the list goes on. Watching laser lithotripsy of a kidney stone looks an awful lot like the Atari game Asteroids.

A good thing about lasers, high voltages, super magnets and energetic chemicals is that you generally know right away if you screw up. With radiation work/play I might not find out I fucked up for 10 years!

@Charlene Yep, I need some risk - which by it's nature can never be completely safe. I made my living jumping off cornices and skiing avalanche chutes for many years. So now doing IT full time? Lacks the adrenaline! My kids are grown, I did my job and passed my genes on, can take some chances!
