"Police harassed a Black Lives Matter medic while the medic tried to save a man’s life." . . . How good it is that 'The Commitment March: Get Your Knee Off Our Necks' last Friday commemorated Dr. Martin Luther King's speech at Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963 for Jobs and Freedom. That was King's 'I Have A Dream Speech' which was hailed as a masterpiece 57 years ago. "Back then the FBI, which viewed King and his allies for racial justice as subversive, also noticed the speech. The FBI commenced to target King specifically as a major enemy of the United States." And the same type of suspicion by Federal agencies and police continues on today and gets a pass from much of white America.
Whenever someone's privilege is questioned, they react that they're being persecuted or that the person questioning their privilege is 'anarchist' or 'terrorist' or whatever bogeyman word terrorizes those who want to retain their position of privilege.

"Israel's blockade [upon Palestine] has had a devastating impact on the Gaza population, affecting all aspects of life. According to UN OCHA[xiv], as of June 2013:
Less than 200 people per day were allowed out of Gaza via Israel in the first half of 2013.
Less than one truckload of goods per day were allowed out of Gaza during the first half of 2013.
57 percent of Gaza households are food insecure, and approximately 80 percent receive some form of food assistance.
35.5 percent of those able and willing to work are unemployed – one of the highest unemployment rates in the world.
Due to fuel shortages, there are power outages for up to 12 hours per day in most areas of Gaza.
Only 25 percent of households in Gaza receive running water every day, and then only for a few hours.
Over 90 percent of the water extracted from the Gaza aquifer is unsafe for human consumption, while needed filtration equipment cannot be imported to Gaza.
Nearly 90 million liters of untreated or partially treated sewage is dumped into the sea off of Gaza every day while equipment needed to build new or maintain existing treatment facilities are banned from entering Gaza." [afsc.org]
Israel is one of the worst terrorist nations.
In the latter 40s the UN decreed that there should be an israeli state and a palestinian state. The founders of israel jumped the gun and they have never allowed a palestinian state to exist as a free nation. They have also repeatedly broken cease fires and stolen land from neighboring countries.
By the way, david ben gurion, the 1st prime minister of israel, with others bombed the king david hotel in July 1946 which killed 91 people and injured many others. This was an act of terrorism against the british who were the colonial power at the time.
@AnonySchmoose Israel's treatment of the Palestinians will never change unless the US puts the withdrawal of financial support to Israel on the bargaining table. Until Israel feels that their actions may have consequences then nothing will change
@dermot235
I tend to regard the situation that way too.
Another part of the problem is the damn scamgelicals and their ridiculous eschatology (exemplified by the "left behind" trash).
Speaking of scamgelicals, nowhere in their little holy book does it ever say that you have to "accept jesus christ as your personal lord and saviour." Nowhere.
No one could have imagined having a President encouraging violence and hatred.
I feel the Trump supporters are 'no ones' who voted for violence, hatred, white privilege, and the illogical American exceptionalism concept. They are always reactive rather than objective. IMO, that is a mental sickness and an ego defense mechanism built into a privileged American mentality. It results in a blind ignorance and hostility to moral questions, which the far right defends itself against at all costs. It subjects all Americans to unreasonable conditions like: police brutality and murder; unaffordable and substandard healthcare; unaffordable and biased educational institutions; extreme job shortages and poverty-level wages; severe limitations and assault on freedoms of people of color and unconstitutional voting restrictions; assault on women's freedoms; assault on the environment and the climate; assault on science and scientists; assault on those who question and point out the unconstitutional flaws in the status quo.
@AnonySchmoose I agree it is definitely a mental illness. Facts and logic aren't meaningful to them. They'll only dig deeper into their madness.
@Unity
They are prisoners of their sick minds, and prefer violence and hatred to knowing the truth about their own sick and duped mentality. In many cases, those people don't realize that the President and political lies for which they voted are their own worst enemies. They are so deep into madness, that they would rather die than be proven wrong in their beliefs. I think that mental illness can believe in Armageddon and Rapture extremism, as much as domestic terrorism. Those appear to be the dangers we need to find ways to face up to.
Very well said!
Racists is really a serious problem in the US again.
When was it not?
