We now are going to have the policy of having herd immunity as a way to survive this epidemic. This means that about 70 percent of the people in the country will have to get infected by the virus. Rachel Maddow has done the math and if we assume that 65 percent of the population gets the virus and they remain immune. Our fatality rate is 2.97% which means that 6,385,000 people will die. Is this acceptable to you?

...Or.. we elect a leader who relies on science and the best practices exhibited by nations successful in combating this … watch the Republican hit-machine attack ..and those now charged up for change ..once again peel away..

People treat this like it's a binary choice -- you either die or you completely heal.
What about the huge number of people who survive but with permanent damage? I've seen estimates that something like 70%-90% of COVID survivors have long-term lung and/or cardiac damage both from the disease and the respirator, etc treatment they may have gotten to get through it.

The one person I personally know who had it, thought he'd survived after being a week or two on a respirator -- then he died of a heart attack a couple of weeks later.

One person I know had it at the end of February, and took a month after getting out of hospital before she could walk across the room. Six months later she still gets winded easily, with occasional fevers. She is 48 and was previously in good health.
