Just remember, national health care is national wealth care.
Take it from an unfortunate cancer survivor that can only afford to live in her car.
If you're not comfortable with that level of Socialism, then you should love Capitalistic homelessness.
Dudley Moore was pretty rich, then he got sick and died millions of $$ in debt on a friends couch.
Wow, that's is so true.
And I'm so sorry about your circumstances. Glad you were able to beat the cancer!
You get sick, then you get punished for being sick. A friend's wife died after 5 bouts of cancer (spreading somewhere else each time) over about 15 years, he was over 3 MILLION in debt, a working man and with kids) despite having what was considered "very good" medical insurance through his job (20% copay of a Jillian adds up!).
He was able to talk the hospitals, etc into taking "only" about half a million, and took 2 more jobs to pay it all off over several years.
One of the very best things about Obama care is the $6000/year cap on indebtedness! Which, may you never have to find out about!
It has been the capitalistic fascists who are out to destroy any form of National Health, Single payer healthcare type programs everywhere on this planet!!!
These fascists want to profit off of everyone even in death!!!
Fascists is the marriage of the State and Corporations!!!
I am truly sorry to hear of your plight. Itās so sad that millions of people are either bankrupted by their healthcare costs or just simply die because they can't pay for treatment in the wealthiest country in the world. What exactly is it about universal healthcare, free at the point of need and paid for out of taxation, that is so objectionable to large numbers of American citizens? It puzzles me, and makes me thankful every day that we in the U.K. have our NHS...introduced in 1947 by a Labour (Socialist) government. My thoughts and good wishes go out to you.
Yes!
One great program that is attacked by the capitalists fascists daily???
Just to be clear, I had a minor skin cancer, they burned it right out. $2,300 out of my pocket. A shot of Cisplatin that hurt me for a month $2,000. Cancer screening including a colonoscopy $1,800. Lab test and medications.
And on it goes.
But it worked, no cancer detected.
Thatās two medical victories within one year, I also recovered from type II diabetes.
So Iām lucky, and broke, I went $23,000 in the hole more or less. So far, anyway.
But I met people that were hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.
So Iāll say again, I am lucky, and I have a job a really good one.
Even if I live in Motel 6 or my car.
See my reply above....Iām truly horrified and angry at your story.
I hope you currently have insurance that complies with the ACA requirements of limiting out-of-pocket to $6,000. I also hope you get a home soon. I'm guessing deposits keep you from actually renting an apartment. If you were near I would let you stay with me until you could save up for those deposits.
I will always be outraged by our healthcare system until it is corrected.
@Lorajay It may sound weird, but in an odd way I'm kind of content in a quiet life of desperation sort of way. But my hardships have never given me anything that didn't make me stronger, and sadly weirder, as time has gone by.
Food, clothing, shelter, health and dental care and a living wage ought to be treated as basic human rights because they are necessaries of life. Anyone who doesn't agree with that is selfish.
Do you mind if I ask how you are making out?
Iām mostly angry, but otherwise OK.
@Willow_Wisp I'm sorry. Anything likely to improve in the near future?
I like the way you said that!
I've had trouble agreeing with anyone who says that these things ARE rights because...well, they just aren't. But when you say that they should be TREATED as rights, I can happily agree.
@AmyTheBruce Very good point, thank you.
@LovinLarge Yes, just recovering and paying off debts and sounding off on social media, it gives me the illusion of companionship in a dysfunctional family of oddballs and loners.
