More good news out of Latin America.

On top of the recent defeat of the military coup government in Bolivia by the popular socialist party, Chile just overwhelmingly voted to re-write it's neo-liberal Constitution. This Constitution was written by the brutal dictator Pinochet and has caused massive wealth inequality and horrendous poverty for many decades.

Now Chileans will have the opportunity to create a more fair and egalitarian charter to govern the country. This is the culmination of years of work and is the result of huge demonstrations involving millions of Chileans. The damage caused by the US backed military coup can finally be reversed after 5 decades of hardship and struggle. Power to the People!

Looks like 2020 isn't all bad.

All this populist alt-right bullshit, Trump, Brexit, Balsenaro etc etc is coming to an end. And a move to the left is on the way. Not just a pipe dream. You can see the signs everywhere. And the world can get back on a path to progress and change.

I think you're overly optimistic here, but I hope I'm wrong about that.

@TomMcGiverin I'm Not being Optimistic Tom. It's happening already. Change is in the air. The selfish policies of the alt right and Populism are on a steep decline. It might be the one good thing that history will remember Covid 19 doing for humanity. Pandemics make people think about their fellow humans. It makes us realise that we are stronger when we work together and weaker when we are selfish and nationalistic.

@dermot235

The pendulum does seem to be swinging left. Let's hope it swings far.
