I buy books like a squirrel hides nuts. I don’t remember exactly what I’ve bought or where I put it, but when I feel like reading, I go digging around the house, confident that I’ve hidden something nourishing for myself to find. It works often enough.

Leisure
WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
I think i know -- and definitely support -- how you feel.
When we got married, the only stated rule that my wife and I made was 'nobody will ever get criticized for buying a book'. And then when my mother closed her small crafts/book store, we inherited all her book display shelves. For years our apartment looked a lot more like a library than a living space. Ha, ha.
We've cleaned it up a lot these days, especially with the advent of electronic media like Kindles and such. But we both strongly think reading should be a big part of life.
