"Western propaganda works to decouple imperialism-targeted nations and people from their governments. It's not Syria's government, it's "the Assad regime" with the Syrian people held as separate. It's not China's government, it's "the CCP" with the Chinese people held as separate. They always work to spin governments the empire doesn't like as these hostile, alien invaders of a nation which has nothing to do with them. They point at it like it's an ugly growth. "Uh-oh, what's that MADURO REGIME doing in Venezuela?? We can lance that for you."
And of course the self-described "anarchists" who suck at thinking always fall for it, because they regard all governments as illegitimate. So they wind up clapping along with CIA/CNN narratives, cheering for the downfall of a government in unwitting service of a much bigger government.
Meanwhile the actual people of the targeted nation are generally supportive of their government and find it vastly preferable to the empire's campaign to "free" them. Their government that they support is spun as an alien invader, by alien invaders."
You never criticize Trump or Putin or any right wing demagogues. You attack Biden. You hate Democrats who are loyal Americans and don't support your narrow agenda that reflects a tiny minority. Biden won. I guess you were hoping for Trump to win so there could be riots, looting and political unrest. Sorry Biden won. Bernie would have been defeated.
I dump on Trump all the time. The Putin/Russiagate nonsense was invented largely out of whole cloth.
I expect the GOP to fuck me over. I at least try to hold to Dems to some minimal standards.
Go back to brunch, Joe.
Bernie campaigned more for Creepy Addled Credit Card Joe than Biden did for himself.
Biden had to drop out in '88 because his multiple lies caught up with him. Jospeh R. Biden, Jr. is still the POS he always was.

@WilliamCharles On H L Menchken's case he was not a patriotic American. He was a racist, antisemite, a mentor of Ayn Rand, who was another fascist, so in his case that rings true. I didn't question anybody's patriotism, so your meme is not relevant either. I just don't agree with you about a lot of stuff and occasionally I get annoyed and challenge you. I like Bernie Sanders, he just wouldn't have been able to depose the "king". Bernie wouldn't have been able to do much if by some miracle (no way) he'd have won. Senate GOP would have seen to that. Trump is out. Biden is fine.
@barjoe - Bernie would have crushed Trump. Trump beat the Hildebeast because of a populist groundswell. Bernie had that and more.
"Settle for Biden" energized no one. He squeaked by on "Not Trump!" exclusively.
Mencken's quote stands on its own.
@WilliamCharles I wish you were right. Bernie would've won in 2016 but not this time. It doesn't matter. Read 1989 publication of H L Menchken's diary, or don't. I hope you'll be shocked. 1938 He called those who escaped the holocaust, fugitives.
@barjoe - fvck your strawman bullshit, BJ. Mencken wasn't an elected official to the best of my knowledge. Biden said didn't want his children "growing up in a racial jungle" (as he fought against desegregation). He praised his good friend Strom Thurmond on numerous occasions. You want to research someone with a hateful history? Have at it.
Biden got installed as president by the oligarchs because of these traits. He gave a speech when he first became Senator about how easily he could be bought off. When someone reveals their true self like that.. believe them.
His campaign made a big deal about Trump’s lies, which is rich as Biden himself is a proven serial liar!
But, but, but... Trump!!
Get bent. You got nothing.
@WilliamCharles Bernie wouldn't have crushed Trump - thats just bullshit to make yourself feel better.
@1of5 - nationwide polls showed he was the most popular politician in the US. He advocated for policies that had massive bipartisan support from the electorate (75%+ on M4A). He energized the disaffected. He funded his campaign entirely without PAC money. Biden's campaign was so dead in the water, even his corporate donations had dwindled to almost nothing.
The DNC wasn't afraid of Bernie losing, they had to destroy him knowing his win would sweep them out of power.

You're a good man, barjoe.
Ye gods, you're right!!
@WilliamCharles nationwide polls show a lot of things, but mainly what they show is they don't matter. We don't elect based on the popular vote, just in case you haven't been paying attention. Internal GOP and DNC polling shows things that national polling doesn't. Remember what both campaigns were saying before the election? "Get out and vote, its going to be closer than the polls show". They were right on the electoral vote and about the house races.
Funny how this "massive bipartisan support" always seems to fail to get him the nomination, let alone allow him run in the general. Bernie supporters seem to claim "victory" even in defeat, which is a trait thats kinda tearing the country apart right now. Kudos.
The DNC is terrified of him losing and rightfully so - Trump would have won if he were running against Sanders, no question IMO. Trump tried VERY hard to paint Biden as a socialist for the simple fact that folks in this country think socialism = communism. Hell, they were trying to claim Biden and Harris were tools of the "radical left wing Sanders conspiracy" for a time - because Sanders was thier dream opponent. Bernie painted himself as a socialist a long time ago nullifying Trumps need to do so, freeing up resources.
And I guess we need to point out that Trump campaigned as normal, while Biden didn't. Remove covid and Trump runs the same campaign but Biden can actually do more. The Republicans did in person get out the vote drives while the dems did virtual, for example, and Biden STILL got 306 electoral votes. The campaign also had more than sufficient funding, just FYI.
And remember impeachment, and what it was for? Trying to dig up dirt on Biden, which means that even before the primary began they feared Biden over anyone else. Why weren't they trying to discredit Bernie instead? Because they knew they could beat him.
I'm not a "I love Biden" person, BTW, and in my opinion Bernie is why we got Biden. Had Bernie not, once again, tried to take over a party that actually doesn't want him Biden would never have gotten the nomination. He was chosen because he's a moderate dem thats a known quantity with name recognition far above anyone else in the field besides Bernie. The real race in the primary was never Bernie vrs everyone else, it was a fight for the center with a lot of options. Biden won the nomination when the rest of the field saw what was happening and dropped out. Once that happend your "most popular candidate" essentially got crushed - like Biden most probably would have been had Bernie not been running. So thanks a bunch.
@1of5
The ratfvckers denying the ratfvckery taking place are the worst ratfvckers of all.
@WilliamCharles ratfuckers. People that intentionally misspell cussing are fooling no one.
@1of5 - I started going that route because on FB, they can freeze your account retroactively (i.e., from an old post that went up without problem) if someone complains. Have had a few issues here tackling contentious subjects, and their comment guidelines don't ban curse words but reserve the right to dial it back if they choose. I didn't think anyone would have any difficulty deciphering my "code."
Congratulations. You figured it out!
If Bernie was such an albatross, Dem centrists wouldn't have begged so stridently that he help bring his progressive following on board. Joe continued to crap on progressives throughout, and now the addled lying sack of shit pretends he has a mandate, whereas the reality is that enough voters in key states hated him less than the Cheeto Benito.
If it wasn't for the pandemic, people would have seen first hand how little enthusiasm Sleepy Creepy Uncle Joe generated. Plus, Trump's mishandling of Covid infections was likely the main thing keeping him from being reelected. That's how shitty Biden was/is. The DNC couldn't have asked for a bigger gift than only needing to trot Joe out long enough to appear coherent after pumping him up with whatever chemical cocktail kept his cognitive decline in check for short periods.
We'll have a President Harris before his term is complete.
@WilliamCharles yes, we should let FB dictate how we write and express ourselves everywhere.
The democratic party is a bunch of coalitions. So what would Bernie have done with the moderate wing of the party had he won besides beg for them to support him? Seriously. Thinking he wouldn't need that support is idiotic, as is thinking Bernie would automatically get the moderates to vote for him without working out deals, begging, and cajoling them for support - then he'd shit on them, too, if it meant getting his agenda passed. That's the way it works in a winner take all system. Sucks, doesn't it?
Would you please, please, please quit thinking Joe is my choice....my choice dropped out before I even got to vote in the primary. I'm only "happy" he won because of who would have won if he didn't (and no, Bernie wouldn't have beaten Trump). I hope we do get a Harris presidency out of this, she's at least competent.
These fantasy scenarios of "if this didn't happen" you keep coming up with are cute, but pointless. They did happen, and your alternatives seem to be tinged with a not small amount of wishful thinking. For every "if" you throw out there there are a half dozen other "ifs" that need to be accounted for, not just the one you want to ride.
@1of5 - if progressives didn't hold their noses for POS Biden, Dolt 45 would have been reelected for a 2nd term.
Biden blows. Plugs McGuire is a Pure Purveyor of Pandering Platitudes and Pablum for Public Consumption.
Get bent, 20%.
@WilliamCharles wow, FINNALLY something that resembles actual real world based analysis. About fucking time. To bad it didn't last.
From my perspective feel free to take your own advise ASAP
@1of5 - "advice" not "advise," brainiac.
@WilliamCharles whatever spell checker decides to throw in there worked for me, thats how much this conversation means to me
@1of5 - Like you really need to tell me how little thought you put into your vapid comments. It is most readily apparent.
Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
