LINK Canadian Churchgoers Cry Foul After Receiving Fine for Violating Large Group Ban | Val Wilde | Friendly Atheist | Patheos

The past weekend was a rough one for British Columbia, with a record number of coronavirus deaths and hospitalizations as well as a recent spike in new cases that’s left Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry pleading with the province to avoid “thinking it may be OK to bend the rules.”

So it’s a particularly bad look for Langley church Riverside Calvalry Chapel to openly flout those rules and then, when faced with the consequences of that decision, protest the loss of “religious freedom.”

What is the problem with large religious group gatherings? Let them win the Darwin award.

The bad part is, they infect other people outside of their church.

Don't they know that it is okay for them to pray at home to their hearts content.

They most probably know that BUT also know that their 'Tithe Collector' won't be able to send out the Collection Plate IF they stay home.

Seems to me the leaders of the church should be working with the govt to minimize risk, virtual services, outdoor services, limit the number at a service and add additional services, that sort of thing.

Bottom line is the right to worship does not outweigh the health of society.
