In Aberdeen, Maryland, the city council has spent the past year opening its meetings with an explicitly Christian prayer.
According to a letter sent to the council yesterday from the American Humanist Association, this is blatant promotion of Christianity through the local government:

Aberdeen is as redneck as they come. They have the military proving ground there as one of its biggest economic drivers.
For those that remember Spiro Agnew, Aberdeen is where his mall was to be built - the kickback scheme that cost him the vice presidency.
