The worker's share of profits has fallen throughout history and if the federal minimum wage had kept up with inflation it would be over $20/hr, if it had kept up with worker productivity it would be over $22, and if it had kept up with executive compensation it would be over $30.

The worker's share of profits began falling in 1973 for several reasons: The Dem Party no longer supporting workers or unions, unions becoming weaker and more irrelevant as membership plummeted and unions were busted, automation, and finally, globalization of the world economy and lower-skilled jobs shipped overseas as manufacturing in the US was given away to China and other third world countries thru terrible trade agreements (that is terrible for everyone except the super rich and multinational corporations).
@TomMcGiverin automation is gonna kill jobs more and more as the robots get better
