Turnips and Lettuce.
Today was my three-month visit with Amanda, my diabetic educator. Things are not good. She adjusted my insulin pump again, never in a good direction. I need to pay more attention to carbohydrates, not carrots and broccoli but turnips and lettuce. I hate being such a disappointment. I also need to move more, fight through the pain. More specialist visits. I am now ready for speedballs! Sorry for sharing. I'll be better tomorrow.
Look into VIRTA, girl. Basically Atkins with lots of new science, it aims to get you off all meds except possibly Metformin through diet only.......Doctors & Coaches monitor your sugar, blood pressure, ketones & weight daily. My brothers' employer pays for it. He went from 3 sugar meds (AC1 8.9) plus 2 for BP, lost 96 lbs in one year, never hungry. You cook (or eat out)for yourself under their guidelines. I pay for it myself, but since I am already off 3 meds, 2 of which cost approx. $50/month each, it's waaaayyy cheap. In just 2 months of very happy eating, hunger is 99% gone, down 16lbs, off Jardiance, No Insulin & ditched a twice a day BP med, and my fibromyalgia and arthritis are greatly improved. Oh, and my AC1 is 6.3 vs. 9.2. Sounds like a miracle but it is Science!
Thank you so much. I will look into it.
I have been a diabetic for over 40 years. I have mine under good control and have done so for years. I started heavy workouts 3 times a week at the gym some 15 years ago. I tried to control my diet. For the last several years my doctor placed me on trulicity, a once-a-week medication. I t has worked extremely well, decreasing my appetite. That has led to a weight loss of some 20 to 25 pounds and a much lower A1C. It has made control much easier.
That sounds very impressive, Wordywalt. You are to be congratulated. Trulicity is the newest drug for Type 2 diabetes. I have Type 1 diabetes. An auto-immune condition and a different animal altogether. I need a new pancreas in addition to doing all the things you are doing so successfully. Thanks for letting me grouse about my appointment.
