I had my six month check up with my Republican doctor today. It's always a fun event because number one I'm healthy and number two he's not a right wing idiot. He was the first person to tell me that Trump was a narcissist and he claims today that is long as Trump keeps claiming to have won in 2020 we have a good chance of not losing any seats in Congress in 2022.
He does like to complain about the squad and tell me that without them we would have a lot better chance in controlling Congress. He also told me he's delighted that a couple of Republican politicians are actually distancing themselves from Trump which gives him hope for his party. Meanwhile I reminded him that our Senator Lankford sent out a Facebook post today reminding people that Oklahomans will not be bullied into vaccination and mask mandates. My doctor is a pulmonary specialist who has spent most of the last year taking care of ICU patients on a ventilator so that definitely made him duck his head. My greatest win though was when I reminded him that there were three or four members of the democratic squad while almost all of the rest of the politicians were less radical. I then compared that to the three or four Republican politicians who were distancing themselves from Trump while the vast majority of them are still walking the radical party line that Trump didn't lose and covid vaccinations and mask mandates should not interfere with personal freedom. When I reiterated that comparison at least twice he said you have a point there. I feel he'll still vote for the Repuglicans. But he is fun to banter with.
His attending nurse got as big a kick out of it as I did. I am sure he enjoys our conversations. He told me I could come back in 6 months instead of four unless I just really wanted to come back in four months.
I would never argue with the man who wields large needles and controls my medicine! There are painful ways to give an injection!
He actually has taken my blood for lab once and he did a very painless job.
I don't think he knows what he's taking about in regards to the squad. (Not surprising, he's a Republican who's completely out of touch with what the majority of Americans want). AOC and Omar won their primary challenges and the first 4 won their elections. 3 of the 4 had primary challengers that they all beat by a large margin and all 4 won re-election in the general. The two newest members won a primary challenge against an incumbent and then the general.
All six are considered a safe bet for next election, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pick up more members next time too.
Most of the things they are fighting for are wildly popular.
I would immediately fire any medical "professional" who blatted away about his/her politics (or religion) on my time!!!!!
They Obviously have poor judgement & an inflated ego, perhaps enjoyable for a social friend, but Not who I want overseeing my care if unconscious in the ER!!!
It's probably my fault he always takes care of business as well.
It's probably my poor judgment and ego that cause it.
I used to write lots of letters to the editor in our local paper and our initial non-medical conversation was initiated because of those.
@Lorajay no it is Not you, he is beng totally unprofessional!
My 35-year PCP, who was Terrific...I only found out he was divorced when i broke down in his office during my divorce. He gave me some wise advice, too!
Never knew either his politics or religion, didn't care, and would have been shocked to have his opinions on either introduced to the conversation during a visit. The only bad thing he ever did was save the ex's life when he has a heart attack before the divorce....I could have been a rich widow.....
