It is pretty likely that the court will put a big hole in the wall of separation of church and state.
Do you think this Supreme Court will care what Humanists, atheists, and any other leftists think about anything, let alone about their friends and allies in the private Christian schools?
This court will erode not only the boundaries between church and state when it comes to schools, we will see it happen in any and all instances across the board, whenever and wherever the issue comes up.
Sure enough, the court is loaded with bigoted right wing nutters thanks to Agolf Twitler....
Before knees jerk and reply, ask what would happen in public schools if all religious schools closed.
Religious entities take in millions of tax free dollars every year, so in fact they are already supported by the states. That their income comes only from those who swallow the faith makes it all the more wonderful. Public schools are not Atheist schools, they are secular. They teach facts and theory, not illusion and theology. As the framers of the Constitution would have wanted it. At one time the only schools available were all funded by religion. We eliminated that and education became available to all without requiring a belief in any particular god.
@Barnie2years What would happen IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS if all religious schools closed?
Hold your knees motionless.
You mean, like back in the 50's/60's?
Why do they have to close? They just need to pay for their own brainwashing.
@yvilletom I guess the same thing that happened to religious schools when public schools opened. Except that many more students would be home schooled. And there would never be a time ALL religious schools would close. The faithful and devout would never allow it, and tithes would increase exponentially. What would affect them more, and already is, is lose of believers and the scandals of pedophile priests, which is one reason Iām sure, they are trying to suck off the government teat. But the Christian schools are getting bigger all the time and flush with donations, called buying your way into heaven. And my knees are just fine. Feel free to donate to your religious school of choice..
@AnneWimsey Rephrasing may help. If all religious schools close, what will happen in public schools?
Pointless, because they won't.
Just curious, are you agnostic and/or atheist, and if so why are you in favor of eliminating the wall between church and state?
Are you in favor of establishing a right-wing theocracy?
What's more important to you, your right-wing politics or your agnostic/atheist beliefs, and how do you in this case choose between the two belief systems, which seem to contradict each other?
In fact, how can you be a Republican with it's strong affiliation with and affinity to a radically religious agenda, at all?
Public schools would have more students and many of the parents would be more demanding regarding curriculum and including religious activity.
Like another person said I don't want them to close I just want them to pay their own way completely.
@yvilletom What does you being a scientist have to do with the separation of church and state, what "hypothesis" are you testing, and why won't you answer my questions?
What kind of "scientist" do you claim to be, btw?
Are you a permanent troll, and not an agnostic/atheist at all?
How can you be in favor of state funding of religious schools and at the same time pretend to be anti-religion? Or do I have that wrong?
What do you mean, my knees appear to be hyperactive?
@Lorajay I asked what will happen in public schools if religious schools close.
You came closest to seeing that the public schools will have more students and will have to hire more teachers for the non-religious subjects: english, math, science, geography, et cetera.
The parents of children in religious schools pay more than their own way; their taxes pay some of the costs of the subjects taught in the public schools their children do not go to.
