The author is right. I wish, though, he had proffered a magic solution. For every socially conscious term that launches, it is only a matter of time before detractors hijack and poison the meaning. The answer, surely, is not to stop talking about important issues. We just can't rely on terms and messages you can fit on a bumper sticker.
