Airlines Have a Recipe To Reach Zero Emissions by 2050. The Key Ingredient: Cooking Oil.

By Hugo Martín https:// Source Los Angeles Times (TNS) https:// [aviationpros.com]

"On Dec. 1, 2021, this United Airlines 737 Max 8 became the first commercial airliner to use biofuel as the sole fuel for one of its engines ... one of the two engines on the 737 Max 8 was powered exclusively by fuel made from used cooking oil and rendered waste fat from beef, pork and chicken." The flight was from Chicago to Washington which is about 600 miles.

Willie has been doing his band buss that way for years.

"Willie Nelson drives a Mercedes. But do not lose faith, true believers. The exhaust from Mr. Nelson's diesel-powered Mercedes smells like peanuts, or French fries, or whatever alternative fuel happens to be in his tank." [nytimes.com]

Can vegetarians sit on that side of the plane?

What kind of difference is there between a seat on one side or the other?

Awesome news..

The infrastructure will take time and major investment. "Biden's administration has a target date of 2050 for weaning aircraft off fossil fuels ... [ Flight ] accounts for around 2.5% of global CO₂ emissions, but 3.5% when we take non-CO₂ impacts on climate into account." [reuters.com] [ourworldindata.org]
