Do you regret it? Would you ever do it again??
it was a Cemetery wedding
Lol. Why do I believe you?
@PhiGuy1618 because you've had a glimpse into my creepiness ? and because I have proof
A humanist presided over the ceremony and wore black as well. ?
I was 28....Not so well developed in my beliefs
I got married at the local magistrates office. I wouldn't do it again, because I am married for life.
1st - small town JP office.
. 2nd - on a playground by a JP.
. I'm not striking out ?
Nah, we got married on a tall ship, on a sunset cruise, while dolphins swam along and jets flew overhead. It beat out a church on any day!!
I got married twice on consecutive days.
First was the chaplain at the hospital where I worked, we got on really well with theological chats, and so when my bride to be wanted the rings blessed he let's do the god thing (his words) instead so married us in the chapel at the hospital with my 4 year old daughter as the witness.
The following day we got married at the local registry office where we had planned so we did the legal stuff.
As it turned out it meant absolutely fuck all as we're now separated but an interesting, and at the time enjoyable, couple of days.
1st time I went along with my religious fanatic wife's wishes and got married in a church, almost bailed at the last moment due to all the hoops they make you jump through in order to be married in their precious building. 3 great kids out of it and a mountain of sorrow and abuse that still haunts me 30 plus years later.
2nd and last time I married the love of my life because I was working overseas and the christian dogma of the country I was working in wouldn't allow my life partner to move their unless we were married and not common law. So we threw a huge party with a Tommy Bahama theme at one of the hotels I had built, complete with a bonfire, live band and rum punch spiked with 151 proof Bermuda rum - it was a hell of a bash.
None of the above, got married at a Bed and Breakfast, and our officiant was a close friend dressed as the Mad Hatter.
Bonus? He had just passed a stone and was high as a kite on pain meds.
I was married JP. Never imagined myself in a white dress, or for that matter all the stress of a big to do. This never bothered me, not once, that is until my husband was dying of cancer, when I dearly wished we'd had photos to remember the day by.
The memory portion of it can't be over emphasized. You always have the option to toss the pics/videos if the relationship devolves into a horror show, but if you never had them and wish you did, you'll never get the chance with that person again if they die before renewing vows.
The first time I got married, the ceremony was held in the OK Corral in Tombstone, AZ. Judge Anderson presiding.
Second (and I sure hope final) marriage ceremony was held in the back room of the local wine bistro. Ceremony conducted be a slightly inebriated Judge Rupert Rupert. (Yep, last and first names are the same).
First marriage in a church. Was 20 and both families were Catholic so that was arranged by them. Second marriage in a friends basement but still done by a minister, not sure what faith. Was the second wifes choice. On a side note, I signed up on the Dudeist website and have a paper stating I am an ordained Dudeist priest. According to the website, I can perform weddings in some states but not sure Wisconsin is one.
I got married on a Saturday by a court judge after all the arrestees bonds were set, lot of other couples were there also to get married. I often wonder what the arrestees thought seeing all those people dressed up in court to get married.
Family pressure was to blame at the time. Now they all know better!
