Scientific fact has never depended on anyone's beliefs, and never will.

The crazy democraps policy on shutting down fossil fuel and nuclear power plants and switching over to unreliable solar and wind power is what’s causing the blackouts.

Uh, no. Actually we produce more power than ever, but there are also more people needing air conditioning than ever.

On average, the Earth receives about one kilowatt of solar energy per square meter per day. It's about 150 trillion kilowatts, a vast amount of energy. (It's 10,000 times the current total human energy usage.) We only need to harness a tiny fraction of that to fullfil all our energy needs.

The way to deal with the daily fluctuation is to use excess electrical power during daylight hours to crack water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. Store the hydrogen in tanks. At night, reverse the process by running the hydrogen through fuel cells, generating electricity and water. You can also run ships, trains, trucks, planes, and cars on hydrogen. This is the future.

@Flyingsaucesir I’ve yet to see the excess electricity from power plants being used to crack water molecules into hydrogen on a large scale so that technology doesn’t seem to be here just yet. By investing heavily in wind and solar power we are becoming to reliant on an unreliable power source as this power source has to be backed up by something that’s reliable like natural gas. We should never have blocked drilling on federal land and neither should we have blocked the Keystone XL as we still need oil and gas. Also by opening the border we are making the situation worse as more people require more power or a lowering of our standard of living. We need to have less people not more as overpopulation is the number one cause of global warming.

@Trajan61 The border has not been opened. Illegal crossings are matched by apprehensions. Many of these ask for asylum and under our laws they are entitled to a hearing. We need a comprehensive new immigration law but Republicans would rather have the issue to heat Democrats over the head with than actually solve the problem.

The sun can hardly be characterized as an unreliable source of energy. It has been going nonstop for 5 billion years and will continue for several billion more. You have not seen hydrogen produced at large scale yet because the necessary investment has not yet been made. Never fear, it will happen. People are starting to wake up to the fact that global warming is costing us more every year (it's something like 100 billion dollars per anum now). Fossil fuels are a dead end, literally. Biden's latest bill is a step in the right direction, but it's so new that there has not been time to implement it. And it is just a first step. Much more will have to be done. We really need to a approach climate change on a war footing. If we were smart we would have started 20 years ago. If the SCOTUS had not robbed Al Gore of the presidency, things might be a little different. But instead we got an oil man in the White House and a totally unnecessary, distracting, and destabilizing war in Iraq. But that just delayed the inevitable. Global warming is the greatest threat to our national security that we will ever face. It doesn't matter how many missiles you have if you can't grow food.

@Flyingsaucesir You are misinformed on immigration and a lot of other things. There’s not a single country in the the world who has successfully converted to 100% green power as it’s simply not practical. And global warming is not the threat you make it out to be.

@Flyingsaucesir Even if what you say about global warming were true with China and India continuing to build coal fired powered power plants it not going to make one iota worth of difference what we do. Hell China already consumes over 1/2 the worlds coal.

@Trajan61 China and India will both change course sooner than expected.

@Trajan61 The Washington Examiner is not a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

@Flyingsaucesir I doubt it.

@Flyingsaucesir Neither is most main stream media.

@Trajan61 Legitimate media outlets (e.g. Washington Post, New York Times, PBS, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, Reuters, Wall Street Journal, Harpers, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Nation, etc.) employ journalists on on the science beat, and they in turn get their information from reputable scientific journals. Unlike Fox News, OAN, Washington Examiner, New York Post, National Enquirer, Newsmax, Breitbart, etc., who just pull whatever alt right propaganda they think will incite the most fear and loathing in their readers/viewres out of their asses.

That is dead on, and dead upon us as well.

The effects we are seeing already are from just 1°C of warming. What will they be like when we have surpassed 3°? 😳
