Unbelievable! This all went down now! Thursday night. The accounts of Ryan Mac of The New York Times, Donie O'Sullivan of CNN, Drew Harwell of The Washington Post, Matt Binder of Mashable, Micah Lee of The Intercept and independent journalists Aaron Rupar, Keith Olbermann and Tony Webster had all been suspended as of Thursday evening. So much for freedom of speech. There are many more suspensions coming.
Twit er will be the direct competition to Truth Social. And the Republicans will still call it Liberal Media!
And who cheered Alex Jones being banned, thinking the power to censor would only be used against the "bad" guys?
"First they came for the Jews and I did nothing because I was not one of them..........."
If you cheered when the precedent was set, don't whine now.
If you want a free internet space, you must accept warts and all or this shit happens.
PS Jones has been done for inciting hate, violence and defamation in a court of law. These laws have been in place a long time and he has his just deserts. Removing him from a social media platform was unnecessary and set a very bad precedent, like medical mandates, so please stop cheering authoritarian style measures that are introduced "for your safety".
@puff Elon Musk confirmed the ban on Alex Jones last week. He also banned Kanye West. They were banned for going against community standards set by a private platform. Standards that all Twitter members agree to when the sign up. Musk banned these people last night for pissing him off, criticizing him, daring to contradict der Fuhrer. It's his platform, he owns it, but he's a narcissistic cunt.
I think Jones was banned for spreading lies (proven in court). These journos were banned for telling truths (according to Musk).
The creatures outside looked from the Musk to the Führer, and from the Führer to the Musk, and from the Musk to the Führer again; but already it was impossible to say which was which. (With apologies to George Orwell).
