Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Montevideo is a lovely city and I don't remember seeing the usual guards with machine guns and assault shotguns in front of the banks the way you often see them in other parts of South America. I was there in 2010 and it had a very relaxed vibe compared to Rio de Janiero or Buenos Aires. The Mercado del Puerto is a cool place to grab some lunch in what I believe used to be the train station.
