Was he chatting her up? Seven hours is a long time.

Being a judge, he probably fell asleep.

@puff Yeah, one hour into the total seven hours.

@puff Just curious, hope you don’t mind me asking. Was wondering, are you based in Thailand and doing FIFO work from there?

At the moment, due to doctor shortage, there is an Oz medical specialist doing a FIFO into Palmy hospital, one week a month. She must be doing very nicely out of that gig.

@Zealandia I went there early 2002 for work, digging holes looking for gas/ oil. Was in Cooper basin before that. I went LIA (Lost in Asia) and returned 2019. Don't know Palmy hospital. I was between Mukdahan and Nong Khai on the Mekong river, the border with Laos. China about 140km from me as the crow flies. Google map Seka, Thailand then look for the crescent shaped lake nearby. That's my second home. Kids are duel citizens.

@puff Cool, useful for the kids to have dual citizenship. I’ll look that up when I get a moment.

Palmy is Palmerston North, in the lower North Island.

@Zealandia Whilst in Thailand was FIFO to NZ. That was one hell of a crew change. I used to slip straight into a 12 hour shift too to avoid short changing.

@puff astounding your kids duel???

@vocaloldfart Step. But Dad. It's a long story, moved here but ended up working back SE Asia. Kids always went back every year, they've been here permanent since 2007ish. When mother got citizen, they were automatic eg young enough still. I flitted back and forth, spending some breaks Thailand working on the house. It's a f'n long flight to Aust, avoid as much as possible.
The life of a FIFO, you get hooked on the roster. Did 9-5 a bit financial crash, almost killed me. Weekends just didn't cut it, couldn't do anything.
