Asking this question because I have been in a few atheist groups that seem to think that if they are atheists, they should not respect the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I support it fully as it was written, especially the 1st and 2nd Amendments. Separation of church and state- although the parties have not followed it very well since the 50's when Eisenhower allowed, "in god we trust," on the currency- is a very important part of America. It represents to me the right to believe and/or worship what you choose. With something or nothing (religion/God/goddess wise) being respected equally, and none being shown favoritism. I also support the 2nd; which to me is not so much about firearms, but the right to protect yourself and your family- with whatever is required. I am an atheist AND a supporter of the Constitution. Just curious as to other atheists, etc thoughts on this.
Excellent post sir, and you are certainly not alone. If you get a chance, please join us- "Conservative Atheist Singles"
