I need more help from my community sometimes. I am misunderstood. People think I'm.rude, but I just can't handle certain sounds or to be touched. I feel like a damn fool sometimes when people make me feel stupid.
Hey, you know what T........ WE are your community, and we all have so much in common! Many of our expressions are the complete opposite of the way that neurotypicals interpret them, so it's easy to be accused of being aloof, unfriendly, indifferent, a trouble-maker etc etc when our intentions were not even close to the accusations. Sometimes it's like being a member of a different species! The fact is that the neurons in our brains are differently connected from those of the majority. That doesn't make us 'wrong', it just makes us different! We have a right to be who we are and find friendship with others like us. We don't have to compare ourselves to neurotypicals; live according to their social protocols or take their reprimands to heart. We can be confident in who we are!
Most of us have some degree of Sensory Processing Disorder. I frequently disclose just that much.
My daughter is autistic and I really appreciate hearing your thoughts. I do my best but sometimes she's quite the enigma. Remember that people can really suck and judge everyone, not just you, so do your best to take care of you, instead of worrying about them.

Posted by altschmerzI was diagnosed with autism by a psychologist after a day of testing, but my current therapist keeps saying she doesn't think I have it (or I'm a "little bit" autistic).
