Love the piece from Twilah, her kind of incite is crucial but unfortunately pretty rare. I've shared it with my works Facebook page, we support a range of abilities and disabilities in employment, to try and just get it out there. 🙂

I work with children who have autism. I agree with the writer whole heartedly. However, not everyone will agree and many people with autism may feel differently.

I think it's a good conversation to have. Many people think they are empowering others with this concept of neurodiversity, while a friend of mine who is a mom of a non-verbal autistic teenage girl gets furious over this stuff.

My son's therapist has mild aspergers and he used the word 'disability' with my son and to me THAT was empowering. There is a problem. Really. And it makes life difficult. And it HAS to be acknowledged.

@Hihi You can not make life easier by ignoring a problem that makes life harder.

Posted by altschmerzI was diagnosed with autism by a psychologist after a day of testing, but my current therapist keeps saying she doesn't think I have it (or I'm a "little bit" autistic).
