I was diagnosed with Asperger's just a few years before they eliminated it as being separate from others on the autism spectrum.

I'm a self-diagnosed 'aspie'. I learned about it 12 years ago, took an online test, and passed with flying colors. My only regret was it took me so long to find out I was Vulcan!

I think I was diagnosed with Aspergers the year they changed it or a year before they did. My mother had difficultly accepting the diagnosis so two years later she had me tested again. Guess what? ASD positive, HFA. More people seem to know what I'm talking about when I say Aspergers so If I tell anyone I say that I have Aspergers not ASD. So much stigma and ignorance in regards to ASD.

I was on the verge of seeking a diagnosis but haven't pursued it now.

IDC 11 comes out next year, so that may re-define it again, then there may be DSM VI too. Don't worry about it.

If we don't reverse some of today's thinking on this, it'll only get worse.

Not a fan of PDD NOS pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified. I liked the older designations which seemed more accurate.

For a year after DSM V came out, my therapist was still refusing to use it (later, they were required to, of course, but they put it off as long as they legally could)

Posted by altschmerzI was diagnosed with autism by a psychologist after a day of testing, but my current therapist keeps saying she doesn't think I have it (or I'm a "little bit" autistic).
